December 2017 Favorites + Face

December 2017Favorites + Face.jpg

I know, this may start to get repetitive, which I said in my last post, but I wanted to talk about my favorites for the month of December because I had a few and not all of them made it into my yearly favorites. My yearly favorites was more of a list of things that I constantly went to throughout the whole year and were just staple products, whereas my monthly posts are a little bit of that but also a lot of fun things that I have been enjoying for a month or so, so I thought it was perfectly acceptable and okay to write about my monthly favorites as well.

2017 Makeup Favorites

2017makeupfavorites

Today we are focused on makeup, the thing that I am sure most of you are here for and what is easily my favorite favorites post to write for the year. I have one more favorites post that I have planned for tomorrow and then that will wrap up all of my yearly favorites for 2017. I can’t believe the year is almost gone, it is insane. But anyway, today I am talking about all of the products that I really loved and found myself using all the time during this past year.

Review: Tarte Lippie Lingerie Set

Tartelippielingerieset

It’s the holiday season which means it’s the time of tons of makeup sets, kits and limited edition makeup all over the place. I haven’t purchased too many things as of yet, but I have picked up a few things that I’m going to hopefully be reviewing over the next few weeks, starting with the Tarte Lippie Lingerie Set, so let’s jump on into this one.

Worth The Splurge!

ProductsWorth The Splurge

This post started out with me wanting to talk about all of the products that I thought were worth the splurge, however, this just ended up being makeup products, which I think is fine. The journey to get here was a little bit of me being conflicted, I’m too indecisive when it comes to everything that I was looking through my makeup and picking out products, which ended up with me picking out too many things and having to put things away. I think I settled on a fair amount of my favorite more splurge worth items, so let’s talk about them.

Project Pan: New Years Goal!

Project Pan

I intended to start another project pan but I hadn’t intended to start it so soon, however, the post that I had planned for the day has inspired me to do a project pan instead. I was going to do a how much my makeup collection is worth post, but I started adding it up and really got terrified/mildly ashamed, so instead, I’m here doing a project pan in an attempt to jump-start using up some products. So, that’s what we’re doing. There will be a total of three posts about this project, as usual, this one, a check-in and then a finale. I will update probably mid-November, and then the finale will be January sixth, so this is the new year project pan. Instead of doing a roulette type of deal like my past couple projects, instead I just kind of rounded up a bunch of things I wanted to use up and ended up with 40 things, so this is going to be a really big and challenging project. I’m not expecting to get through it all but we’ll see how it goes. And since this is such a large project I would suggest grabbing a drink and a snack really quick because this is going to be a long one!

PSX_20170904_153650

1. Bath & Bodyworks Sweet On Paris Fragrance Mist – I have had this one for so long, this is my favorite scent and has been such a comforting scent for me over the years, but I’ve decided it’s time to really enjoy it and use it up before it goes off, which I’m surprised it hasn’t already since I’ve had this for so very long. I think I can get through this one in no time.

Amount left: 75%

2. Pixi Sun Mist – I purchased This on a whim, I was getting a couple of the other Pixi mists and I thought this one sounded awesome, it’s pretty much a sunscreen that you spritz on your face. The annoying thing is that I find myself often having to rub it in, which defeats the purpose to me, it’s not that serious but this just seemed like a super easy way to remember to always put on sunscreen.

Amount Left: 100%

3. Bath & Body Works Frosted Wonderland Body Cream – I have a couple of these left so I’m trying to make my way through them because I’ve had them forever, and by a couple I mean a couple body creams, not of this scent exactly. I’ve had these a while and just really need to work on clearing out my little lotion stash.

Amount Left: 50%

4. Pink Warm + Cozy Body Mist – I’ve finished one of these minis in a past project, it may have been one of the ones from this year actually, I can’t completely remember but either way I’ve used one of these up so I have complete confidence that I can finish this one during this project pan.

Amount Left: 70%

PSX_20170904_153952

5. Bliss Fab Girl Slim Skin Firming Cream – Another thing that I picked up on a whim, that seems to be a bit of a problem for me, I’m trying to break that habit but I’m honestly not very good at it. Anyway, I have always been interested in this product because of chunky thighs, but at the same time, I feel like it’s such stupid and gimmicky product. Either way, I own this and I’m trying to use it up.

Amount Left: 95%

6. Tarte Maracuja Oil – I got this in a set, I feel like I feel everyone talk about how much they love this, I own this and figure I should give this a try, especially because I’ve had it for almost a year now. I’m not sure what the best way to use this is though, suggestions?

Amount Left: 95%

7. Belli Basics Clearly Coconut Oil – Another oil, I’m not sure where this one came from and I’m really not sure what to do with this one, but I’m trying to use up products and I’m not one to get rid of products without using them at least once or twice before really judging them, hence why this one is here. Suggestions of the best way to use this one as well?

Amount Left: 100%

8. NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray – I have so many sprays, I don’t know when this started or how I got here, but I have so many to test out and use up, so I’ve decided to reach for this little guy and once I get through this one I’ll probably pick another one to throw in this project. Clearly, I am confident I can finish this one up.

Amount Left: 100%

9. It Cosmetics CC+ Cream – I’m not sure I’m looking forward to this one, I’ve been trying to product out and it’s not as amazing as I thought it would be, it’s also a bit too dark for me still, so I end up using drops to lighten it. I guess we’ll see how this one goes.

Amount Left: 90%

PSX_20170904_154238

10. NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Bound – I think I actually have two of these, not completely sure how I’ve come across two of them but I have, the goal is just to finish up one of them, however, if I finish up both that’s even better.

Amount Left: 100%

11. Skin Food Black Sugar Mask – This is just a tiny little sample pot of this, so I’m sure I’ll have no problem getting through this one. I’m excited to give this a try, I’ve heard really good things and so far I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried from this brand.

Amount Left: 100%

12. Clinique Pep Start Hydro Rish Moisturizer – I love this line so much, or at least every product I’ve tried so far, which has been three or four things I believe. This is also just a little tiny sample product that I’m going to be finished within no time, I’m sure of it.

Amount Left: 90%

13. Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream – Another product from this range, this one is still a sample size but it’s a little large and I imagine this one will take me a little bit longer to finish up. I am super excited about trying out an eye cream though!

Amount Left: 90%

14. Ouai Rose Hair + Body Oil – I’m not a fan of floral scents so I’m not sure if I’m going to like this one, everyone seems to be loving this brand so I am excited to test out some more products from them, but I’m just not sure how well I’m going to like this one.

Amount Left: 100%

15. Ahava Dead Sea Crystal Osmoter Serum – I am not sure where I got this, not completely sure what this does and because of these two things, not sure why I’ve decided to include it in this project but I have, so we’re going to try and use this up and see how it goes.

Amount Left: 100%

16. Milk Makeup Blur Stick – I just finished the one I was using from the last project, quite enjoyed it so I’ve decided to throw my other one in here and try to use it up. I am sure that I can’t-do that since I finished the other one up, granted, I finished it just a few days after the last project, but I bet if I really focus on this I’ll use it up in no time.

Amount Left: 100%

PSX_20170904_154404

17. Tonymoly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar – I believe this is the peach one, I’m not one hundred percent sure since I don’t believe it says it on the product itself and I’ve had it for a little while. I enjoy this product but it doesn’t really do a whole lot for me, plus it’s a little bit on the older side, so it might be time for this one to go.

Amount Left: 70%

18. Essence Super Fine Eye Liner Pen in Deep Black – I am almost out of the eyeliner I use regularly so I’ve decided to try and use this one up, I hear this one is supposed to be really good so I’m curious to see if it will beat out my regular and well-loved eyeliner.

Amount Left: 50%

19. Maybelline Baby Lips in Grape Vine – I’m not even sure if they make this shade anymore, I didn’t see it on the Ulta website. This is one of my favorite easy to wear lip products for the fall season, it’s moisturizing, glossy and gives a nice berry kind of tint to the lips that is perfect for the fall season. The only downside to this one for me is that it smells awful, like artificial grape powder and I personally hate that.

Amount Left: 95%

20. Becca Back Light Priming Filter – I feel like I’ve had this sample for way too long and I don’t know why I’ve never really used it, everyone and their dog seems to love it, so I guess I’m finally going to find out what the hype is about.

Amount Left: 100%

21. Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Dopey – This is a little sample, I’ve pretty much gotten rid of all of my colour pop lip products, I’m just not a big fan of them and I think this might be the last one I have, so here’s to hoping I enjoy this one and can get through it all.

Amount Left: 60%

22. Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Rose Gold – I have another makeup sample, this is such a pretty color and a product that I don’t think gets talked about enough, but when it does it seems like everyone who has used it loves it. I think this is going to be a pretty fun product to use up.

Amount Left: 90%

23. The Estee Edit The Barest Contour Lip Liner in In The Buff – I’m pretty sure this brand doesn’t exist anymore? I feel like I heard something about that a little while ago, but I’ve done zero research into it. Either way, I’m trying to use up this lip liner. I’ve been into lip liner a lot more as of recently so I’m sure this one is going to be a breeze.

Amount Left: 90%

24. Fiona Stiles Micro Precision Brow Sculpting Pencil in Neutral Brown – Another product that I think is going to be a breeze for me to use up, I say as a person who has never used up an entire brow pencil, but I’ve been enjoying using an eyebrow pencil a lot more recently so I’m thinking this one should be simple enough.

Amount Left: 100%

25. Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in In The Nude – This is pretty much my go-to waterline eyeliner, I like a nice nude waterline. I have been wanting to try out another pencil though so I’m hoping to get through this one and start trying out a couple other eyeliners.

Amount Left: 50%

26. Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss in Papa Don’t Peach – This one is back! If I don’t finish this one up during this project I’m probably going to end up passing it along because I’m never going to use it. This color is so pretty and so effortless, however, I really don’t like the scent of this product so it always holds me back on wanting to use it. We’ll have to wait and see how this one really goes.

Amount Left: 90%

PSX_20170904_154518

27. Lorac Pro Matte Palette – Another product that is back and is pretty much impossible for me to ever use up, but I’m giving it another try. I have on shade completely gone, two almost finished, two with dents in them and three that are really going to need more love. I’m not expecting to finish this one up but I’ll see how it goes and how much I can really use up, I’m really hoping to finish the two that are basically done and the two with noticeable dents, but that might be too much. We will see.

Amount Left: 70%

28. NYX Ombre Blush in Mauve Me – I love this blush! It’s probably one of my favorite ones for the fall time, it’s just perfect and so easy to wear with just about any look, I have had this for a while and I figured this would be a good one to use up. I’ll be sad to see it go but excited to use it up. Not that I really think I’m going to be able to finish up an entire blush in 3.5 months, but then again, who really knows.

Amount Left: 90%

29. Honest Beauty Invisible Blurring Powder – I ran out of setting powder when I started putting together this list, so I dug through my stash and found this loose powder, which is what I’ve been using for the past couple of weeks now. Not sure how this one is going to go but I’m sure if I put my mind to it I can complete this one.

Amount Left: 100%

30. Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Smoke N Whistles – I think this might have been the first highlighter that I ever owned, so it’s safe to say that I’ve had this one for a little while, this was also the first thing I ever really used from the brand I think or at least one of the first things. I think since I’m going to be focusing on using up this highlighter it’s going to be a breeze to use up.

Amount Left: 50%

31. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light – Does it make me a liar because above I said I ran out of setting powder? I feel like this doesn’t because this isn’t just a typical setting powder, or at least I don’t think it is. While this is something that I want to use up I don’t think this is something that I would want to use every single day, mostly because I’m not sure that’s the look I’m always going for. I love this powder, I’m sad it’s so expensive but this is something that I’m hoping to use more and enjoy more and not think about the price, which is a little bit of the reason why it’s in this project.

Amount Left: 85%

32.-40. Lush Products – This one I will break down into a real number list as I go along, but for right now I’m grouping them together because I don’t have names for each item. I want to use up eight Lush bath products, which should be super easy and I really think I could use up more over the next three and half months, but I decided to keep at eight for two reasons, one is that it makes it an even number and two is that it’s a little bit of a challenging number for me but it’s also something that I can easily accomplish, which I know doesn’t make a whole lot of sense together. I’m hoping to use up some bath product because the Christmas range is coming and I am sure I will snatch some of that up, so I need to use up some of the stuff I currently own before that happens.

And that is everything that I am including in this project pan! It’s a lot of things, I really honestly don’t think I’m going to get through them all, but I am excited to try to and to give some of my favorite products some heavy duty loving, but also try out some new things and see what I end up liking and not liking. I feel like that is a huge advantage to project pans for me, and probably to everyone, but finding out things that I love and don’t love are super useful. Anyway, I think I’m going to end this here because I’m sure this post has been far too long.

Review: Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip

Untitled design

I’ve had this post sitting in my drafts for way too long, but luckily Sephora still sells the set that I will be talking about today, so I can still share my feelings on this set and talk about it without feeling like a crazy person. This is the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip set, let’s jump right on in and talk about this really fun set!

20170502_185012.jpg

This set contains five mini products and one full-size product and retails for $28.00, which I personally think is a really great deal for being able to try out six mid range products, you even get a full size which is a great bonus.

20170502_185145.jpg

This set comes with a mini Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Kristen, a mini Tarte Lippie Lingerie Matte Tint in Revealed, a mini Too Faced Lip Injection Glossy in Spice Girl, a Mini Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer in Sugar Sugar, a mini Nars Velvet Lip Glide in Bound and lastly a full size Urban Decay Vice Waterproof Long Lasting Lipstick in Trivial.

20170502_185419.jpgNow, I’m going to go from top to bottom and do like a mini review/overview of each shade.

Marc Jacobs Hi Shine Lip Laquer in Sugar Sugar: This is a really gorgeous gloss, it’s pretty thick and is very opaque in the application, it’s a really gorgeous peachy toned lipstick that has no shimmer in it. This does have a soft fragrance in it but nothing that’s really in your face. Overall, I actually really like this lip gloss.

Too Faced Lip Injection Glossy in Spice Girl: I am not the biggest fan of plumping lip glosses, this one is alright though, it’s not my favorite lip gloss of all time but it is nice. I don’t know that it really plumps, I honestly can’t tell. The shade is a more orange toned beige kind of nude shade with the tiniest micro gold glitter.

Nars Velvet Lip Glide in Bound: This is a product that I kind of love, it’s not matte but it’s not really super glossy either, it’s kind of somewhere in the middle, which is something that I personally enjoy. I also really love this color, it’s really quite flattering and neutral enough that I think you could wear it for any season and it still looks good.

Tarte Lippie Lingerie Matte Tint in Reveal: This is the darkest of the bunch, I love it though, it’s not my all time favorite shade but I love this formula, it’s basically the LipSurgence formula which they no longer make but was one of my favorites, I really want to pick up a more me kind of shade of this now but so far I’m enjoying this darker brown shade.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Kristin: This lip gloss is serious business, I’ve tried another one before and both of the ones I’ve tried are seriously pigmented, as you may be able to see in the swatch above. This lipgloss is a little bit sticky but with the pigmentation of this one, I’m going to let it slide.

Urban Decay Vice Waterproof Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Trivial: This is the only really fully matte product, I think anyway, and I’m okay with this. The color of this is really pretty, it’s a rosy pink shade, however, the formula of this is just alright. I don’t think it’s bad by any means but it’s nothing special either.

And that is the Sephora Favorite Give Me Some Nude Lip set, I think this is a really great set and a set that is completely worth picking up because overall it has a nice range of nude lipsticks and it’s a great way to try out brands.

What’s your favorite nude lipstick?

Review: Tarte FRXXXTION Stick

Tarte FrXXXtion Stick Review

I am back with a review today, today’s review should be a good one because I have actually completely used this one up which means I should be able to thoroughly comment on this one because of that. As per usual, I have way more content coming to me than I can keep up, partially because I am a hoarder and partially because I’m always coming up with new ideas, however, I guess that’s alright since that means I’ve always got something to write about. Anyway, today I’m just going to focus on this product!

20170426_141549.jpgThis is the Tarte Frxxxtion Stick, it’s a 3 in 1 exfoliating cleanser, according to the Tarte website it’s a cleanser, exfoliator and face mask all in one. It also twists up, which is really handy. The product comes with 1 full ounce of product for $22.00, which isn’t the best but that’s not half bad, especially since I used mine regularly and had it for at least two months, so that’s not bad at all.

Let’s talk about the packaging of this a little bit, this comes in a pretty standard box, it’s nothing exciting which is why I didn’t really feel the need to share a photo of it, however, I did want to mention it. Now, onto the actual product packaging, which is really straightforward but I quite like that. I don’t think this is the simplest packaging ever but I do think it’s very basic and very Tarte, it’s just a cylinder that turns at the base and it has a gold top, I do like the gold accents on this a lot. The only complaint that I might have about the packaging is that after using this for a little while the inner part of the cap starts to separate from the outer cap, I kept having to shove it back into the outer cap and it was kind of annoying, not that big of a deal but annoying still.
20170426_141602.jpgAnd now this is what the actual product itself looks like, it’s just a black solid form, it almost looks like deodorant but it is for sure not. This product has a fine scrubbing element in it, I’m honestly not sure what that element is but I do know that it’s in there. I think it’s super gentle because I could use this product every day and it wouldn’t irritate my skin, I don’t have the most sensitive skin ever but my skin isn’t not sensitive, if that makes any sense whatsoever.

I never used this product for anything other than a cleanser, and I guess an exfoliator as you can’t really avoid that no matter if you use this as a cleanser or a face mask, but anyway I can’t vouch how well this works as a face mask but I can talk about it as a cleanser. I found that this worked really well and cleaning my face, it was something that would get all of my makeup off, the only thing about that is that you shouldn’t use this on or too close to your eyes, I never tried it but this does not seem like a product that you should do that with as it would probably irritate, but for the rest of my face it did a good job at deep cleaning and gently exfoliating, which is something that I love.

The application is very simple, I personally just twisted it up a little bit and then wiped it all over my face, finishing it but rubbing it in with my hands. The scent of this is honestly so faint that I don’t even remember what it smelled like, I never really noticed it so if you are sensitive to scents I don’t think this one will bother you at all. Overall, I liked this product and am glad that I purchased it, in fact I feel like I will repurchase this some time in the future I’m just not entirely sure when.

Monthly Favorites: May 2017

May Favorites & Face

It’s time for some monthly favorites and this month I also came up with a monthly face this month, so we’re back to the normal program. May seemed to drag on for quite some time, not as bad as last month though. Now, let’s just jump right into this month favorites!

20170528_120019

This month I stuck to only makeup products, I didn’t completely mean to but when I was trying to round up non-makeup items I couldn’t really come up with anything that really came to mind as a favorite, so for this month, we are sticking to what I love, makeup.

Let’s start with something that I am a little bit surprised that I like because I’m not a huge bronzer kind of person, that is the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronzer. This bronzer is actually really good and I find it super easy to use, it looks really soft and natural without being overdone. I also really love the scent of this, it’s very prominent but I like the coconut, sunscreen type of scent a lot.

Now, onto something else that I feel like is really hyped up but something that I fell in love with very quickly, which is the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Fair. This is a really thick concealer, it is for sure full coverage but at the same time, I find this really easy to blend out and very easy to work with, as well as not really feeling that heavy on the skin which is always a plus in my book.

Essence Make Me Brow in Soft Browny Brows, this is something that I am sure has been in favorites before, probably even a few different ones but this is something that I am a huge fan of so that’s why it keeps showing up. It’s really easy to apply, looks very natural and overall is just a really quick application. It’s just a really easy and very reasonably priced product.

Up next is another product that I feel like gets talked about a fair amount because apparently, this month is the month of hyped up favorites that are actually really good. This product is the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation in Porcelain, this foundation is fabulous and I can completely see myself repurchasing this already, even though I currently have like 9 foundations to go through, but this one is just really nice. It’s a fantastic color match for me, a very lightweight feel while still giving som coverage. The only complaint that I might have about this one is that the applicator is terrible, I’m not a huge fan of dropper types as I find them a bit difficult to work with.

This next one is something that is somewhat new to me but also not, it’s something that I had a sample size of but decided to commit to the full size and that is the Stila Huge Mascara. This may not be my all-time favorite mascara, it’s a tiny bit wetter than I usually like but it’s still a favorite because I still love it, I’m just on the hunt for the perfect mascara.

I cannot link you to this exact product because I don’t believe this is for sale anywhere anymore, but I can link you to the original product which is what I plan on doing. That is the Mac Fix+ in the scent Coconut, I have a travel size of this and just got a full size of the new one, which I am not sure of the scent yet, but I am excited. I love this product already and have used half of it, it does a really good job at finishing off a look and making me look less powdery while prolonging the wear of my makeup and the smell is great.

Speaking of powdery, my next favorite is a powder and that is the Nyx Blotting Powder in Light. I am not a powder connoisseur, I don’t know a lot about powder and I don’t really care that much, as long as it does what I need it to and this one does really well. It’s a nice shade, it’s really soft and leaves a nice finish on the skin.

Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in Noir is the last item, I wanted to try a new eyeliner because the one that I had been using is really dark but would always run, so this just made logical sense to me. I have the nude one and use it all the time, I don’t find that it moves or runs at all, so I picked up the black and I love it so much because it just stays put.

And those are all of my favorite products from this past month, so now let’s jump into the look that I came up with using some of these products.

Lorac Behind The Scenes Primer

Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette Shades: Tempera, Vermeer, Buon Fresco, Warm Taupe, Antique Bronze and Cyprus Umber

Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner in Noir

Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner in In The Nude

Nyx Matte Liquid Liner in Black

Stila Huge Mascara

Smashbox Photofinish Foundation Primer

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation in Porcelain

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Fair

Nyx Blotting Powder in Light

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronzer

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Blushing Bride

Tarte Amazonian Clay Highlight in Exposed

Essence Make Me Brow in Soft Browny Brows

Mac Fix+ in Coconut

Buxom White Russian Gloss

And that is everything in terms of what was on my face, I actually really liked this look even though it was a fairly neutral look, but sometimes it’s just nice to go back to something basic and simple, which is what I did a lot for the month of May. Maybe I’ll be back to playing with some more adventourous looks in June, we’ll just have to wait and see.

What were some of your favorite products in May?
