September 2017 Empties

September 2017Empties

I am back with another monthly empties posts, not quite as many products as last month, but still a fair amount. I am really burning through products, that may be because of minis or just things I used all the time but either way I’m blowing through them it feels like. Let’s jump in and talk a little bit about my trash from September.

PSX_20170930_133251

Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Moisturizing Conditioner – Is the conditioner that I was using for a little while there. I like it and think it’s nice, I’m just not sure that it’s my holy grail, end all, be all conditioner and I’m really not sure if I’m ever going to find one that is. Repurchase: Probably.

Devacurl Wave Maker Touchable Texture Whip – This is the second mini that I have gone through and I am really into this product, which I think is pretty clear when I said that I’ve been through a couple of minis already. I love this stuff! Repurchase: Yes. I already have even.

NYX Blotting Powder in Ligh– This is something that I wasn’t sure I loved but was something that I thought did the job, however after running out of this and using a couple of other powders I’ve had in my stash, I think this is fantastic and does more than I realize. Repurchase: Yes, already have and will again!

Origins GinZing Eye Cream – This was just a little sample I got from a Sephora play box a while ago, I’ve finally used it up though, I feel like I’ve been working on this little sample for a while now but I’m finally through it. This is not my favorite product, I’m not sure that it really does anything but I did use it up. Repurchase: Probably not, I didn’t really notice any differences when I used this vs. when I didn’t.

Garnier Micellar Makeup Removing Wipes – These are my favorite makeup remover wipes, I really love them and have been using them for a while now. Repurchase: Yes, completely, already have and will for the foreseeable future.

PSX_20170930_133514

Bath & Bodyworks Watermelon Lemonade Candle – This is probably my favorite scent from Bath & Bodyworks, it smells amazing and I love it in all forms that I’ve smelt it in thus far. I’m glad you can get this candle all year round now because it’s one of my favorites, even in the winter time. Repurchase: Yes!

Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover – This was a smaller size and it was something that I used up but it took me a while as I really didn’t like it, I find that this feels a little bit more greasy than I would like. It did a great job at removing eye makeup but I just didn’t like the feeling. Repurchase: No, I would not.

Up & Up Moisturizing Shave Gel in Strawberry Tangerine – This is fine, it’s shaving gel and I don’t think there is really anything fancy about shaving gel, this one does the job, smells nice and is easy for me to pick up while grocery shopping. Repurchase: Yes, of course.

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner – This is my favorite leave-in conditioner I have ever used, I have tried a couple of cheaper ones but they just aren’t the same and they don’t do the trick like this one. I wish these went on sale more often because I feel like I go through these pretty quickly. Repurchase: Yes, already have two backups from them being on sale last month.

Bath & Bodyworks Peach Bellini Candle – I love this scent too, this is another one I will burn all year, this is a really fresh and fruity scent that I think is perfect for all seasons. It’s fresh but it’s very celebratory like, if a scent can even smell celebratory. Either way, I love this one. Repurchase: Yes!

PSX_20170930_133714

Mac Strobe Cream – I have finally finished this one! If you have seen my project pans in the past then know that this has been in them for a while now, I’ve been what I thought was close to finishing this product for months now, but I just now finished it and I am so excited to have finished this. This is a good product but I don’t love it as much as I once did, it’s alright. Repruchase: Probably not.

Clinique  Turnaround Overnight Revitalizing Moisturizer – This is my all time favorite moisturizer and I’m so sad this was my last little jar, I’m trying to make my way through some other minis and a full size before repurchasing this one but I love it so much! I even use it during the day. Repurchase: Yes, I would for sure!

Tatcha The Water Cream – This was a little sample jar I got from somewhere and I’m not really sure where, but I tried this out. I want to complain about the size of this, I know it’s just a sample but I got maybe six uses out of this max, which felt a little bit sad. I don’t think I’m a big fan of this one though, I didn’t really notice any difference and I didn’t like the smell of this at all. Repurchase: No.

Christophe Robin Purifying Shampoo – I actually really liked this, the smell wasn’t my favorite but I liked what it did for my hair, I found that it really got rid of build up after a week or so and I really liked that. My biggest thing is about this is the price tag, it’s not something I would use up quickly but it’s still a hefty price tag. Repurchase: I’m not sure.

Milk Makeup Blur Stick – I like this, I think this does what it claims to do but I also think there are a lot of other products that do similar things to this and this isn’t my all-time favorite application. I do still enjoy this and think it’s a great product, it just isn’t the best. Repurchase: I might, one I used up some other primer type things.

Mac Prep + Prime Fix + Coconut  – I am so sad about this, this was one of my favorite things ever, it smelled amazing and the way it set my makeup was just so nice and I loved it. However, this was a limited edition product and they don’t’ carry it any longer. I just want them to bring it back! Repurchase: YES!

And those are all of my empty products for the month of September, not a lot of makeup but I feel like there never really is as I don’t go through makeup that often really. Still, a good mix of products and some things I’m very happy to finally be finished with.

What have you used up most recently?

September 2017 Favorites + Face

September Favorites & Face

It’s that time again, time for me to talk about some of my favorite products from the last month, this post is a little light though as I feel like I didn’t wear a whole lot of makeup during September, which I’m going to blame on getting sick. But, since I hadn’t been wearing a ton of makeup during the month that means I don’t have a whole lot of favorites. Let’s just get into it and talk about the products I have been loving.

PSX_20170930_132958

Gold Target Bracelet – I couldn’t find this bracelet on the Target website and it was on clearance when I got it, so I’m assuming they don’t sell it anymore but this bracelet is still a favorite of mine. I’m not much of a bracelet girl but this one is really nice and adds just the right amount of something to an outfit, which is why it is a favorite for the month of September.

Anastasia Beverley Hills Blush Trio in Pool Party – This was in my shop my stash post for last month, so I guess it makes sense that this one is here, it’s one of the products that I was really focusing on using and trying out during the month of September and it left a good impression. I feel like I hear no one talk about these but I actually really like this one and have been debating picking up another one, these come with three shades and I just like having a little bit of variety at my fingertips.

Smith’s Tropical Ambrosia – I feel like everyone loves the Smith’s Rosebud Salve, but I don’t like the rose scent at all, I was debating the strawberry one a little while back but then saw that this one existed and I’m glad I picked this up. This is really moisturizing and the smells amazing, it has a really tropical fruity scent to it that doesn’t smell like straight up coconut, which I personally love.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara – This might be my new holy grail mascara, I never bought high-end mascaras before really and this might be the reason why I’ve fallen hard for this. This doesn’t clump on me at all, this is really dark and this isn’t too wet, a recipe for a perfect mascara to me.

Skinfood Watermelon Mask – This mask is something that I love and am not surprised that I do, mostly because I pretty much love everything to do with watermelon. I have been using this mask a lot after I go for runs, it’s just really cooling and soothing, the smell is amazing too!

NYX Blotting Powder in Light – I always think powder is powder, but when I ran out of this for a short period of time I was reminded that’s not true, I’m super happy to have this back in my hands. This really sets my makeup fantastically and it really helps sheer out products if I get a little bit overly eager with the blush or the bronzer, another thing that I really appreciate.

Eyes: Lorac Behind The Scenes Eye Primer, Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance: Tempera, Warm Taupe, Raw Sienna, Vermeer, Antique Bronze and Cyprus Umber. Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer In Noir, Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in In The Nude, Physicians Formula Eye Booster Eyeliner in Ultra Black, Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. Face: Milk Makeup Blur Stick, Dr. Jart BB Cream in Light Medium, Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Fair, Anastasia Beverly Hills Foundation Stick in Dawn, NYX Blotting Powder in Light, NYX Ombre Blush in Mauve Me, Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Smokin’ Whistles, NYX Matte Setting Spray, Fiona Stiles Micro Precision Brow Sculpting Pencil in Neutral Brown. Lips: The Estee Edit The Barest Contour Lip Liner in In The Buff, Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss in Peach.

Those are all of my favorite products from September and the fact that I decided to share with you guys to represent the month, not that I think anyone look can represent last month since I really didn’t wear makeup nearly enough. It’s been a really slow month but I’m okay with that, these are still things that I have really been loving.

What have you been loving for the month of September?

Why September 2017 Was Awesome + Goals

September 2017

It’s the start of a new month which means it’s time to talk about the last month, which means multiple posts wrapping up the previous month, this time we start with my overall wrap-up of the month of September and my goals for the month of October. I can’t believe it’s already October again, this year seems to be flying by, the month of September was gone so quickly, it was like a blink of an eye.

September wasn’t a particularly exciting month but it was a pretty busy month, which I think is some of the reason why it seemed to have gone by super quickly. The only thing that I can think of off the top of my head that was somewhat exciting this month was that I turned 24 during the month of September, which you can read all about here, that way I don’t bore anyone who has already read all about my birthday. I had a really great day.

Another thing that is somewhat exciting is I got my wedding dress back, it’s all altered and fits perfectly, I’m super happy that I decided to let it out a little bit instead of trying to fit in it, which I’m sure I could have, but now it fits pretty comfortably and I’m not itching to take it off. So, even if I actually do lose some weight, I will fit in it if I don’t as well which is nice. I did sit in it for the first time and I really can’t bend and there is so much fluff around me, but still, I’m happy with it and very excited to wear it shortly.

I’ve been working a lot this month, working a lot on my blog, cleaning and just the usual things really, there isn’t a whole lot of exciting things going on. As I’ve said probably way too many times, I’m pretty boring but I still like to keep up with things here in case there ever is something exciting for me to list.

Now, to talk a little bit about my goals from last month and how they went, let’s start with Driving, which is something I failed at yet again. I do not know what is wrong with me but I just don’t ever drive, I really need to push myself to drive more often but September wasn’t a good month for that apparently. Getting Ahead With My Reading Challenge, I’m so disappointed in myself, I was ahead for most of this month but as of right now I am on track, which is better than being behind but I was hoping to get ahead. Social Media, is something I think I’m endless going to be working on better myself at, but I think I’m doing alright with this one. Losing Weight I was doing so good, I had lost four pounds since the middle of August, as of the middle of September, but I fell off a bit and I’ve gained a little bit of the weight back so I have lost some but I’m not where I wanted to be. It’s just nice to have finally seen some change on the scale. Decluttering, I have done a really good job at this, I went through all of my makeup and now I’m working on going through it once more, a little more in depth this time.

Drive More. This one is returning because it is something that I really need to do and it’s going to be here until I actually start doing it, here’s to hoping October is the month of driving for me.

Read Five Books This Month. I want to challenge myself a little bit, though I did just get a bunch of graphic novels for my birthday so I’m not sure how much of a challenge it will really be, I want to read five books, which should put me ahead one book at the end of October.

Lose Five Pounds. This goal is back, it’s not the end of the world if I don’t and I’m not super focused on it, but I would love to lose five pounds this month.

Get Back To Working Out. I have fallen off the wagon a little bit during September, so it’s time to refocus and get back to working out six days a week, I know I have it in me, I just have to get back to it.

Continue Decluttering. I want to continue on with the decluttering and have a really in-depth look at my wardrobe this month, it might take some time but I’ve got all of October to finish it which I think will be plenty of time.

No Buy. I already know that I’m going to fail this, but then again maybe I won’t, I probably will but either way I’m going to attempt a no buy for the month and at the very least I’m hopefully going to fall into the category of a low buy.

Relax. I want to make sure to make time for myself to relax, so I’m hoping to do this once a week and hoping that it will help me out in the long run, because sometimes I just really feel overwhelmed and need to remind myself it’s okay to slow down.

And those are all of my goals for October, I think I did alright with my September ones and I think I’m going to crush the October ones, I can just feel it already. Here’s to a fabulous October!

How did September treat you guys?

Disney Inspired: Rapunzel

Disney Inspired

It’s time for another Disney inspired makeup look, which I am super excited about, as I always am, I say as a person who has done this post a total of three times now, but I love it and am very excited! Last month I did Megara and this month I am doing Rapunzel, partly because I got a request last month to do Rapunzel and partly because I love Rapunzel and knew I was going to do her eventually. So, let’s just jump right on in!

I’m not sure how well I utilized this set of inspiration photos, I think I pulled more from the colors than anything else with this one. I feel like with the last two I did something a little more literal, whereas this one seems a little bit more like the essence of Rapunzel. Either way, these are the photos that I used for inspiration for my Rapunzel makeup!

I wanted to do something based on the colors of Rapunzel, she wears mostly purple, has golden hair and while I know Pascal isn’t part of her, he’s always with her and he’s green. Which is how we got to this look, I’m quite happy with how it turned out, although I will say it’s not quite as good as last month, but I love Rapunzel and am really glad I did her.

Wow, I didn’t really realize how many products I actually used to do this one, I don’t know if I’m impressed or ashamed. I think I’m a little bit impressed. I’m pretty happy with how this turned out and I think it’s pretty clear what Disney character this is.

What character should I do next month?

Battle: Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer vs. NYX HD Concealer

Battle- Urban DecayVs.Nyx Concealer

I’m back with another battle post this month! I’ve been trying to do these every month since I started doing them in March, so far I’ve only missed one month, which I am a bit disappointed in myself over, but either way, I am here this month with a new one. This one is all about concealer, which may be why you clicked on this post, I will be testing the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Light Neutral against the NYX HD Photo Concealer in Alabaster. I believe I’ve seen that these two are supposed to be dupes on Pinterest, so let’s put them to the test and find out what I think about these two as dupes.

PSX_20170904_154704

Let’s start this one out by talking about the packaging, I am aware the packaging doesn’t really matter in terms of if something is a dupe or not, but I like to talk a little bit about it just to compare. I only have a mini of the Urban Decay concealer but I imagine that the full size looks the same and feels about the same. I honestly don’t really notice a quality difference between the packaging of these two, neither are particularly cheap but neither feel high end either. I will say, I think I prefer the Urban Decay packaging a little bit more but this is all based purely on appearance, I just feel like it looks cleaner and brighter, which is something that I prefer.

Now we’re going to talk about the price and how much you get with each product, a full size of the Urban Decay will run you $29.00 and you get 0.16 oz of product, whereas the NYX one will run you $4.99 and you get a total of 0.11oz of product. There is a little bit of difference in price but if these two are dupes, the NYX one ends up being considerably cheaper, it may have a little less product but you can purchase nearly six of these for the same price as the Urban Decay one.

The other thing to note about these two is that the Urban Decay one comes in fourteen different shades and the NYX one is twenty-two different shades, although three of those shades are color correctors so there is that. Urban Decay also sells color correctors but it’s kind of sold as a different product, but that’s just something to keep in mind when talking about the shade range. Still, I think so far the NYX one is looking a lot better just based on price and shade options, but I think the most important part is the wear and formula of the product.

I’m going to put off the formula discussing for just a little bit longer to talk about the wands, you can see the NYX one to the right and you can see the Urban Decay one down below. The sponges are not the same, this one is more of a classic doe foot applicator and the Urban Decay one is more of a flat and skinny one, I don’t really have a preference of one over the other, they are basically the same if you ask me. I’m going to put off the formula discussing for just a little bit longer to talk about the wands, you can see the NYX one to the right and you can see the Urban Decay one down below. PSX_20170904_155031

I guess the most obvious thing about these two are that they are not the same shade, not even close, I could have probably found a better match in the Urban Decay but I was just wanting to get a mini to try it out. Spoiler, I would have liked it more if the shade was right. The left is the Urban Decay and the right is the NYX.

I personally do not think these two are dupes, I just don’t find that the formula matches up quite right. I find that the Urban Decay feels a little more lightweight but has better coverage than the NYX, which is a huge bonus for it. I actually used the NYX HD concealer for quite some time and did not expect to have any doubts in my mind that it would be better, but I’m thinking the Urban Decay one might be something I like a little more. I do like that the NYX one is more brightening, but that may be more to do with the shade choice than the formula.

20170912_082336

In this photo, I am wearing the NYX concealer under my right eye, which is the left in the photo, and the Urban Decay on the left which is the right in the photo. That may have been a bit confusing but I think that makes sense. I think that while the NYX side looks brighter, the Urban Decay side looks a lot more well covered like it covered up my under eye bags better.

There is a difference in texture as well, I find that the Urban Decay one feels a little bit more whipped whereas the NYX one feels more creamy and a little bit thicker.

The other thing to note about these two is that the Urban Decay one has a little bit of an odor to it, nothing over the top or overwhelming about it, but it does, whereas I don’t really smell anything with the NYX one other than maybe a little bit of that generic makeup kind of smell. Neither are offensive or irritating to the eyes or skin.

So, overall I do not think these are dupes, I think both are fine concealers but I do think that the Urban Decay one is better, neither of these are my all time favorite concealer, but I do think they are both nice. Not dupes in the slightest bit though.

What dupes would you like to see?

Project Pan: New Years Goal!

Project Pan

I intended to start another project pan but I hadn’t intended to start it so soon, however, the post that I had planned for the day has inspired me to do a project pan instead. I was going to do a how much my makeup collection is worth post, but I started adding it up and really got terrified/mildly ashamed, so instead, I’m here doing a project pan in an attempt to jump-start using up some products. So, that’s what we’re doing. There will be a total of three posts about this project, as usual, this one, a check-in and then a finale. I will update probably mid-November, and then the finale will be January sixth, so this is the new year project pan. Instead of doing a roulette type of deal like my past couple projects, instead I just kind of rounded up a bunch of things I wanted to use up and ended up with 40 things, so this is going to be a really big and challenging project. I’m not expecting to get through it all but we’ll see how it goes. And since this is such a large project I would suggest grabbing a drink and a snack really quick because this is going to be a long one!

PSX_20170904_153650

1. Bath & Bodyworks Sweet On Paris Fragrance Mist – I have had this one for so long, this is my favorite scent and has been such a comforting scent for me over the years, but I’ve decided it’s time to really enjoy it and use it up before it goes off, which I’m surprised it hasn’t already since I’ve had this for so very long. I think I can get through this one in no time.

Amount left: 75%

2. Pixi Sun Mist – I purchased This on a whim, I was getting a couple of the other Pixi mists and I thought this one sounded awesome, it’s pretty much a sunscreen that you spritz on your face. The annoying thing is that I find myself often having to rub it in, which defeats the purpose to me, it’s not that serious but this just seemed like a super easy way to remember to always put on sunscreen.

Amount  Left: 100%

3. Bath & Body Works Frosted Wonderland Body Cream – I have a couple of these left so I’m trying to make my way through them because I’ve had them forever, and by a couple I mean a couple body creams, not of this scent exactly. I’ve had these a while and just really need to work on clearing out my little lotion stash.

Amount  Left: 50%

4. Pink Warm + Cozy Body Mist – I’ve finished one of these minis in a past project, it may have been one of the ones from this year actually, I can’t completely remember but either way I’ve used one of these up so I have complete confidence that I can finish this one during this project pan.

Amount  Left: 70%

PSX_20170904_153952

5. Bliss Fab Girl Slim Skin Firming Cream – Another thing that I picked up on a whim, that seems to be a bit of a problem for me, I’m trying to break that habit but I’m honestly not very good at it. Anyway, I have always been interested in this product because of chunky thighs, but at the same time, I feel like it’s such stupid and gimmicky product. Either way, I own this and I’m trying to use it up.

Amount  Left: 95%

6. Tarte Maracuja Oil – I got this in a set, I feel like I feel everyone talk about how much they love this, I own this and figure I should give this a try, especially because I’ve had it for almost a year now. I’m not sure what the best way to use this is though, suggestions?

Amount  Left: 95%

7. Belli Basics Clearly Coconut Oil – Another oil, I’m not sure where this one came from and I’m really not sure what to do with this one, but I’m trying to use up products and I’m not one to get rid of products without using them at least once or twice before really judging them, hence why this one is here. Suggestions of the best way to use this one as well?

Amount  Left: 100%

8. NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray – I have so many sprays, I don’t know when this started or how I got here, but I have so many to test out and use up, so I’ve decided to reach for this little guy and once I get through this one I’ll probably pick another one to throw in this project. Clearly, I am confident I can finish this one up.

Amount  Left: 100%

9. It Cosmetics CC+ Cream – I’m not sure I’m looking forward to this one, I’ve been trying to product out and it’s not as amazing as I thought it would be, it’s also a bit too dark for me still, so I end up using drops to lighten it. I guess we’ll see how this one goes.

Amount  Left: 90%

PSX_20170904_154238

10. NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Bound – I think I actually have two of these, not completely sure how I’ve come across two of them but I have, the goal is just to finish up one of them, however, if I finish up both that’s even better.

Amount  Left: 100%

11. Skin Food Black Sugar Mask – This is just a tiny little sample pot of this, so I’m sure I’ll have no problem getting through this one. I’m excited to give this a try, I’ve heard really good things and so far I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried from this brand.

Amount  Left: 100%

12. Clinique Pep Start Hydro Rish Moisturizer – I love this line so much, or at least every product I’ve tried so far, which has been three or four things I believe. This is also just a little tiny sample product that I’m going to be finished within no time, I’m sure of it.

Amount  Left: 90%

13. Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream – Another product from this range, this one is still a sample size but it’s a little large and I imagine this one will take me a little bit longer to finish up. I am super excited about trying out an eye cream though!

Amount  Left: 90%

14. Ouai Rose Hair + Body Oil – I’m not a fan of floral scents so I’m not sure if I’m going to like this one, everyone seems to be loving this brand so I am excited to test out some more products from them, but I’m just not sure how well I’m going to like this one.

Amount  Left: 100%

15. Ahava Dead Sea Crystal Osmoter Serum – I am not sure where I got this, not completely sure what this does and because of these two things, not sure why I’ve decided to include it in this project but I have, so we’re going to try and use this up and see how it goes.

Amount  Left: 100%

16. Milk Makeup Blur Stick – I just finished the one I was using from the last project, quite enjoyed it so I’ve decided to throw my other one in here and try to use it up. I am sure that I can’t-do that since I finished the other one up, granted, I finished it just a few days after the last project, but I bet if I really focus on this I’ll use it up in no time.

Amount  Left: 100%

PSX_20170904_154404

17. Tonymoly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar – I believe this is the peach one, I’m not one hundred percent sure since I don’t believe it says it on the product itself and I’ve had it for a little while. I enjoy this product but it doesn’t really do a whole lot for me, plus it’s a little bit on the older side, so it might be time for this one to go.

Amount  Left: 70%

18. Essence Super Fine Eye Liner Pen in Deep Black – I am almost out of the eyeliner I use regularly so I’ve decided to try and use this one up, I hear this one is supposed to be really good so I’m curious to see if it will beat out my regular and well-loved eyeliner.

19. Maybelline Baby Lips in Grape Vine – I’m not even sure if they make this shade anymore, I didn’t see it on the Ulta website. This is one of my favorite easy to wear lip products for the fall season, it’s moisturizing, glossy and gives a nice berry kind of tint to the lips that is perfect for the fall season. The only downside to this one for me is that it smells awful, like artificial grape powder and I personally hate that.

Amount  Left: 95%

20. Becca Back Light Priming Filter – I feel like I’ve had this sample for way too long and I don’t know why I’ve never really used it, everyone and their dog seems to love it, so I guess I’m finally going to find out what the hype is about.

Amount  Left: 100%

21. Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Dopey – This is a little sample, I’ve pretty much gotten rid of all of my colour pop lip products, I’m just not a big fan of them and I think this might be the last one I have, so here’s to hoping I enjoy this one and can get through it all.

Amount  Left: 60%

22. Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Rose Gold – I have another makeup sample, this is such a pretty color and a product that I don’t think gets talked about enough, but when it does it seems like everyone who has used it loves it. I think this is going to be a pretty fun product to use up.

Amount  Left: 90%

23. The Estee Edit The Barest Contour Lip Liner in In The Buff – I’m pretty sure this brand doesn’t exist anymore? I feel like I heard something about that a little while ago, but I’ve done zero research into it. Either way, I’m trying to use up this lip liner. I’ve been into lip liner a lot more as of recently so I’m sure this one is going to be a breeze.

Amount  Left: 90%

24. Fiona Stiles Micro Precision Brow Sculpting Pencil in Neutral Brown – Another product that I think is going to be a breeze for me to use up, I say as a person who has never used up an entire brow pencil, but I’ve been enjoying using an eyebrow pencil a lot more recently so I’m thinking this one should be simple enough.

Amount  Left: 100%

25. Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in In The Nude – This is pretty much my go-to waterline eyeliner, I like a nice nude waterline. I have been wanting to try out another pencil though so I’m hoping to get through this one and start trying out a couple other eyeliners.

Amount  Left: 50%

26. Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss in Papa Don’t Peach – This one is back! If I don’t finish this one up during this project I’m probably going to end up passing it along because I’m never going to use it. This color is so pretty and so effortless, however, I really don’t like the scent of this product so it always holds me back on wanting to use it. We’ll have to wait and see how this one really goes.

Amount  Left: 90%

PSX_20170904_154518

27. Lorac Pro Matte Palette – Another product that is back and is pretty much impossible for me to ever use up, but I’m giving it another try. I have on shade completely gone, two almost finished, two with dents in them and three that are really going to need more love. I’m not expecting to finish this one up but I’ll see how it goes and how much I can really use up, I’m really hoping to finish the two that are basically done and the two with noticeable dents, but that might be too much. We will see.

Amount  Left: 70%

28. NYX Ombre Blush in Mauve Me – I love this blush! It’s probably one of my favorite ones for the fall time, it’s just perfect and so easy to wear with just about any look, I have had this for a while and I figured this would be a good one to use up. I’ll be sad to see it go but excited to use it up. Not that I really think I’m going to be able to finish up an entire blush in 3.5 months, but then again, who really knows.

Amount  Left: 90%

29. Honest Beauty Invisible Blurring Powder – I ran out of setting powder when I started putting together this list, so I dug through my stash and found this loose powder, which is what I’ve been using for the past couple of weeks now. Not sure how this one is going to go but I’m sure if I put my mind to it I can complete this one.

Amount  Left: 100%

30. Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Smoke N Whistles – I think this might have been the first highlighter that I ever owned, so it’s safe to say that I’ve had this one for a little while, this was also the first thing I ever really used from the brand I think or at least one of the first things. I think since I’m going to be focusing on using up this highlighter it’s going to be a breeze to use up.

Amount  Left: 50%

31. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light – Does it make me a liar because above I said I ran out of setting powder? I feel like this doesn’t because this isn’t just a typical setting powder, or at least I don’t think it is. While this is something that I want to use up I don’t think this is something that I would want to use every single day, mostly because I’m not sure that’s the look I’m always going for. I love this powder, I’m sad it’s so expensive but this is something that I’m hoping to use more and enjoy more and not think about the price, which is a little bit of the reason why it’s in this project.

Amount  Left: 85%

32.-40. Lush Products – This one I will break down into a real number list as I go along, but for right now I’m grouping them together because I don’t have names for each item. I want to use up eight Lush bath products, which should be super easy and I really think I could use up more over the next three and half months, but I decided to keep at eight for two reasons, one is that it makes it an even number and two is that it’s a little bit of a challenging number for me but it’s also something that I can easily accomplish, which I know doesn’t make a whole lot of sense together. I’m hoping to use up some bath product because the Christmas range is coming and I am sure I will snatch some of that up, so I need to use up some of the stuff I currently own before that happens.

And that is everything that I am including in this project pan! It’s a lot of things, I really honestly don’t think I’m going to get through them all, but I am excited to try to and to give some of my favorite products some heavy duty loving, but also try out some new things and see what I end up liking and not liking. I feel like that is a huge advantage to project pans for me, and probably to everyone, but finding out things that I love and don’t love are super useful. Anyway, I think I’m going to end this here because I’m sure this post has been far too long.

Blog Planning Tips

Blog Planning Tips

I’ve been blogging on ilikeitsparkly for almost two years now and I don’t think I’ve ever shared any tips or anything like that, probably partially because I forget that I can do things like this and partially because I am still not sure if I really have this blogging thing down. Either way, I plan on sharing three of my favorite tips for planning things on the blog.

1. Planner – I think this one is probably the most obvious of all tips, but it’s something that is super useful when it comes to planning. I guess you don’t have to use a planner, but an editorial calendar or something of the sort is really super useful. I use a physical planner and I plan out all of my content, keep to-do lists and really just keep myself super organized with this.

2. Spread Sheets – This is something that is super important to me in terms of planning out my blog posts from month to month, in fact, it’s probably the key thing to me planning my blog posts. I have a google spreadsheet that has every single blog post idea I’ve ever wanted to do or had on it, separated into categories and I even throw my drafts in there so I have a list of everything that I might want to do. If I have an idea, it goes there, it might not always stay there but it goes there and it’s super helpful.

3. Buffer – Or something like that, I personally use buffer and it saves me tons of time when it comes to planning out my social media content. On Saturday or Sunday, I usually sit down plan out a bunch of tweets and Instagrams for the week, get everything ready to go and then twitter posts for me and Instagram takes just a couple of steps. It saves me a lot of time.

Etsy Finds #2

Etsy Finds #2

Last month I did my very first Etsy Finds post, I was super excited about it and enjoyed writing that one so much that I have decided to make it a series, I’m not sure how long it will be around but as of right now I see it being here forever, just because I think it’s a really fun post. Etsy is full of so many amazing and cute things for all occasions, it’s a really interesting place to shop and I really like it. So, let’s talk about some fun things I’ve found on Etsy over the past month.

The first item that I have chosen to talk about this month is this super cute Sailor Venus Ice Cream Cone Pin from ChibiStudiosLLC. This seller also makes all of the other sailor scouts, well all of the main five, and I’m kind of itching to get my hands on this one, Sailor Venus is my favorite, jacket season is approaching quickly and this is just super cute. I’m kind of hoping this shop also starts selling all of the other scouts as I would also love a Neptune one because it’s super cute.

This next one is a vintage item that I think is so pretty and I’m drooling over a little bit, hopefully, everyone is okay with some vintage pieces. I didn’t include any last time because I wasn’t sure I wanted to share one of a kind thing, but I decided to this time around. This is from the shop Secondfindings.

This next one is something a little more home-oriented, nothing major though as it’s just a little ring dish, but it’s really pretty. This one comes from AudacityBespoke, they sell a  variety of products, they make other ring dishes as well but I am really into this aqua and mint one, especially with the gold around the edge, I think it’s quite pretty and would make a great gift.

I love these minimalist type of earrings, I think these are very simple but I think these are very interesting, not quite your typical jacket earring, which is a lot of the reason why I like these. These come from the Etsy shop called VirginiaWynne, which seems to sell a lot of jewelry that I would throw in this really simple and minimalist type of category.

I have been into the mineral type of jewelry for a little while now and I personally have always wanted a Watermelon Tourmaline necklace, it’s just so pretty but the thing about this necklace is that it’s a little more on the pricey side of things. This necklace is from OhKuol on Etsy, this shop is full of a ton of really gorgeous pieces of jewelry that I love.

Another piece of the minimalist type of jewelry and these ones are bees! I have always love bee jewelry, why? I’m not really sure but I have always loved the look of bees since I can remember. These cute little earrings are from AnnieLesperance’s shop, which they sell a lot of simple type of pieces there, I’m super interested.

A home decor piece, I’m really trying to branch out my picks in this series already, I just think that it would be more interesting if I showed off more of a variety of types of things, especially because you can get so many different types of things on Etsy. I love these shelves, I really love the hive looking shelves as well, and these are pretty much like that except single ones that can pretty much be shaped any way I want. This is from FoxDesignsBoutiqueCo on Etsy.

It’s September and it’s my birth month, so I had to share this really cool zodiac constellation necklace with you guys. This nifty little necklace is from dua770, it’s super cute and I believe they have all the signs.

And those are all of the things that I’m pretty much lusting after this month on Etsy, really this is just a giant wishlist series that I’m sharing with you guys. I found it really hard to only share eight items, but I’m also trying to not be completely overwhelming with my picks. Anyway, next month is another month that I can share a bunch of cool things with you guys.

Try It: Stitch Fix

Untitled design (3)

Yes, it is time for something completely new from me! I’ve never tried Stitch Fix before and I was very excited to try it out, this may be a spoiler but I was also really happy at the end of this experience that I did get to try it out. So, let’s just jump right on into talking about this box!

20170913_090411We’re going to start this post out with the one and only thing that I kept this time around, and that is the pants. I adore these pants, I put them on and I was sold. I like the color of these quite a bit, the feel of these is nice and the fit is perfect. These pants are just amazing and I’m so happy about these, this box was completely worth it for these pants alone. These are from the brand Liverpool and they are the Adele Skinny Jean, they are petite jeans and they are dark olive color, which will be perfect for the fall and winter time.

I paired this with a really simple outfit, a pair of leopard flats and a brown and white striped loose fit long sleeve top, an outfit that I can feel becoming a staple in my wardrobe for the fall months.
20170913_090744For this outfit, I decided to use two of the items from the box because I thought they looked good together. The sweater and the jacket are from this box, the jacket was a bit small for me and the sweater was a little on the larger side. Let’s talk about the sweater first, I really wanted to keep the sweater, it was so comfy but I found that it was a little too big and  I just wasn’t sure if I wanted it because of how comfy it was or how it looked, so I sent it back. This sweater is from the RD Style brand and it’s the Rowca Scoop Neck Pull Over Sweater.

Now, as for the jacket, It was a little snug but it’s something that looks a lot like something else I already own, so that’s why I passed on this guy. This is from the brand 41Hawthorn Chaplin Lined Hooded Anorak Jacket, it’s gray, cute and a perfect weight for the fall time.

20170913_090954Now, we are going to talk about this top, this shirt was right up my alley. I love the stripes and I love the pop of pink color, it’s really simple but at the same time, it’s interesting. This went back because this was way too sheer, which you can’t tell from this picture but in person, it is very sheer, which is why I couldn’t keep this one. I wish it had been just a little thicker because this would be in my closet at this moment.

This is from the brand Colette and it’s the  Chavez Pop Color Cuff Knit Top. It’s super soft, really cute but like I’ve said too many times now, really sheer and just not for me.

Also, side note, this is probably the worst outfit in this post, not sure I love it.

20170913_091212And this is the last clothing item in this box, the last item as well, and that’s this cute plaid top. The reason this went back was that it gapped in the bust area but was loose everywhere else, so I thought if I sized up it might be too big everywhere and not look quite the way that I want it to. I did pick up a plaid button up at Old Navy on my birthday Old Navy trip last week, so I think that killed the plaid urge.

Anyway, this is from the brand Le Lis and it’s the Covington One-Pocket Tee, it’s a really simple and basic plaid shirt that I think would work in most closets, it just didn’t have the fit I wanted.

I know I only kept one item but I am still really happy with my experience with this box, I feel like this box was very tailored to my taste, I loved the look of every single piece in this box. The only complaint that I might have about this box is that I only had three days to decide what to keep and what to pass along, so with my post office being how they are, that means I really only had two days and that just doesn’t seem like a long time. I didn’t expect to have it for a month or anything but I did expect to have five to seven days at least. Overall though, I am super happy with this box and am already planning another one.

Follow Me Around: 24th Birthday

Follow Me-24th Birthday

I’m not sure if you guys knew this or not but my birthday was recent, which you may have known by the fact that I posted my 24th birthday haul this past Sunday, or the fact that I talked about it on social media. I really enjoy my birthday usually and am completely fine with talking about it, I did try to keep the birthday posts to a minimum though, so that’s why this is going to be my last birthday post, plus I’m not really sure what else I would blog about.

20170913_151120_001

I had two days off of work, the Wednesday before my birthday and my actual birthday. I had the Wednesday off because I had a wedding dress fitting and we had a couple of other things to do, so we just took the whole day off, which was nice. As you can see in the photo to the left, I wore a really cute outfit on Wednesday that I was super happy with. This was taken in the Old Navy dressing room, which was one of the stops that day as I had some super cash to spend, which I did of course. I am a shopaholic after all. But we started our day out by going to Old Navy, they were closed so we ended up going to the suit place, but they asked us to come back later so we hopped over and had lunch. Then we went and dealt with my dress, came back and got my fiance a suit, went and did some shopping, had a birthday dinner on Wednesday and came home. So, the day before my birthday was pretty fun. But, now on to the actual day.
20170914_084504

I just had to share this photo, I had the day off so that meant that I had plenty of time to play with makeup, so since I had time and it was with my birthday. So, since I had all the time and it was my birthday I decided to play with glitter, something I’ve never done before but something I am super happy I played with because now I’m not so scared of it, however, glitter does get everywhere after you apply glitter, which I guess is to be expected.

After getting ready our first stop for the morning was to go bowling, which was super fun and I will insert a couple of photos from right below this.

We played three games in total, I lost the first one by a little bit, the second game we both were really terrible at and that photo above is from the third game, which is the only one I won and probably the best I’ve ever done at bowling.

20170914_112439

After we went bowling, we headed over to get my fiance a button up shirt for the wedding, he has just recently started getting what he’s going to wear together and so far we have a shirt, suit and shoes. I think the only two things left are suspenders and a tie, so nothing too serious I think. We then drove around the outlets for a few minutes, I looked around and didn’t really see anywhere that I just had to go, so we left the outlets.

Lunch was our next stop, we debated for a few minutes and ended up at Olive Garden, not my all-time favorite place but neither of us have had pasta in probably three weeks at least, so I think we were both itching to eat some pasta, hence how we ended up here. I left very full of pasta, salad, and breadsticks and I’m super happy about that.

20170914_124559The next stop was a complete surprise to me and something that I’ve always wanted to do, we went to a Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Shop, I love ice cream, I love Ben & Jerry’s and I always wanted to go to an actual shop. That might be a little weird but I also don’t really care, I was excited and it was a really great expirence. I got salted caramel blondie in a waffle cone, the ice cream was fantastic and the waffle cone was so good. We were going to sit on the river and eat our ice cream but it started to rain, so instead we sat in the parking lot and watched a bridge opening from afar, which was kind of interesting to see.

After ice cream we headed home, popping into our work for just a few minutes so we could look at the floral arrangement our florist sent as a trial for the wedding centerpieces. A little too much yellow for us, but very pretty, as you will see in the photo below.

20170914_141839
The next stop was just hanging out in our apartment, taking a trip up to the in-laws new house, then coming back to their current home where we opened gifts, had chick fil a and cheesecake.

So, overall a really good birthday, one of the best ones I’ve ever had I think. I had lots of fun, hung out with some of my favorite people and ate a ton of food, which to me equals a pretty damn good day. Plus I wasn’t at work and got to play with glitter, something I don’t do nearly enough.

What was your favorite birthday?
