Fall 2017 Makeup Wishlist!

Fall MakeupWishlist

I am on a no buy right now so doing this post is really helping with that, it’s like window shopping, which can be satisfying as well, though never quite as good as actual shopping.  So, I guess I’m just going to share some of the things that I’ve been looking at, debating drooling over, etc. and talk just a bit about them. Let’s dive on into my wishlist for the fall season.

Battle: Nars Blush Dolce Vita vs. ELF Blush Blushing Rose

ELF Blushing Rose Vs.NARS Dolce Vita

It’s time for another dupe post, I really love doing these posts and this month we will be battling a couple of blushes. As you probably already know but the title, we will be battling the NARS Blush in Dolce Vita and ELF Blush in Blushing Rose, two very different price points but these are supposed to be dupes. Instead of talking about these let’s just jump right on into this dupe post!

Disney Inspired: Rapunzel

Disney Inspired

It’s time for another Disney inspired makeup look, which I am super excited about, as I always am, I say as a person who has done this post a total of three times now, but I love it and am very excited! Last month I did Megara and this month I am doing Rapunzel, partly because I got a request last month to do Rapunzel and partly because I love Rapunzel and knew I was going to do her eventually. So, let’s just jump right on in!

I’m not sure how well I utilized this set of inspiration photos, I think I pulled more from the colors than anything else with this one. I feel like with the last two I did something a little more literal, whereas this one seems a little bit more like the essence of Rapunzel. Either way, these are the photos that I used for inspiration for my Rapunzel makeup!

I wanted to do something based on the colors of Rapunzel, she wears mostly purple, has golden hair and while I know Pascal isn’t part of her, he’s always with her and he’s green. Which is how we got to this look, I’m quite happy with how it turned out, although I will say it’s not quite as good as last month, but I love Rapunzel and am really glad I did her.

NYX Shadow Base In White

A Random Gold Eyeshadow I’m Not Sure Where I got

Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Quad in Plum. Define and Contour Shades.

NYX HD Concealer in Alabaster

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Light Neutral

NYX Blotting Powder in Light

NYX HD Blush in Taupe

NYX Ombre Blush in Mauve Me

Essence Eyeshadow in Snowflake

NYX Matte Setting Spray

The Estee Edit The Barest Contour Lip Liner in In The Buff

Tonymoly Bunny Gloss Bar in Peach

Wow, I didn’t really realize how many products I actually used to do this one, I don’t know if I’m impressed or ashamed. I think I’m a little bit impressed. I’m pretty happy with how this turned out and I think it’s pretty clear what Disney character this is.

What character should I do next month?

Project Pan: New Years Goal!

Project Pan

I intended to start another project pan but I hadn’t intended to start it so soon, however, the post that I had planned for the day has inspired me to do a project pan instead. I was going to do a how much my makeup collection is worth post, but I started adding it up and really got terrified/mildly ashamed, so instead, I’m here doing a project pan in an attempt to jump-start using up some products. So, that’s what we’re doing. There will be a total of three posts about this project, as usual, this one, a check-in and then a finale. I will update probably mid-November, and then the finale will be January sixth, so this is the new year project pan. Instead of doing a roulette type of deal like my past couple projects, instead I just kind of rounded up a bunch of things I wanted to use up and ended up with 40 things, so this is going to be a really big and challenging project. I’m not expecting to get through it all but we’ll see how it goes. And since this is such a large project I would suggest grabbing a drink and a snack really quick because this is going to be a long one!

PSX_20170904_153650

1. Bath & Bodyworks Sweet On Paris Fragrance Mist – I have had this one for so long, this is my favorite scent and has been such a comforting scent for me over the years, but I’ve decided it’s time to really enjoy it and use it up before it goes off, which I’m surprised it hasn’t already since I’ve had this for so very long. I think I can get through this one in no time.

Amount left: 75%

2. Pixi Sun Mist – I purchased This on a whim, I was getting a couple of the other Pixi mists and I thought this one sounded awesome, it’s pretty much a sunscreen that you spritz on your face. The annoying thing is that I find myself often having to rub it in, which defeats the purpose to me, it’s not that serious but this just seemed like a super easy way to remember to always put on sunscreen.

Amount  Left: 100%

3. Bath & Body Works Frosted Wonderland Body Cream – I have a couple of these left so I’m trying to make my way through them because I’ve had them forever, and by a couple I mean a couple body creams, not of this scent exactly. I’ve had these a while and just really need to work on clearing out my little lotion stash.

Amount  Left: 50%

4. Pink Warm + Cozy Body Mist – I’ve finished one of these minis in a past project, it may have been one of the ones from this year actually, I can’t completely remember but either way I’ve used one of these up so I have complete confidence that I can finish this one during this project pan.

Amount  Left: 70%

PSX_20170904_153952

5. Bliss Fab Girl Slim Skin Firming Cream – Another thing that I picked up on a whim, that seems to be a bit of a problem for me, I’m trying to break that habit but I’m honestly not very good at it. Anyway, I have always been interested in this product because of chunky thighs, but at the same time, I feel like it’s such stupid and gimmicky product. Either way, I own this and I’m trying to use it up.

Amount  Left: 95%

6. Tarte Maracuja Oil – I got this in a set, I feel like I feel everyone talk about how much they love this, I own this and figure I should give this a try, especially because I’ve had it for almost a year now. I’m not sure what the best way to use this is though, suggestions?

Amount  Left: 95%

7. Belli Basics Clearly Coconut Oil – Another oil, I’m not sure where this one came from and I’m really not sure what to do with this one, but I’m trying to use up products and I’m not one to get rid of products without using them at least once or twice before really judging them, hence why this one is here. Suggestions of the best way to use this one as well?

Amount  Left: 100%

8. NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray – I have so many sprays, I don’t know when this started or how I got here, but I have so many to test out and use up, so I’ve decided to reach for this little guy and once I get through this one I’ll probably pick another one to throw in this project. Clearly, I am confident I can finish this one up.

Amount  Left: 100%

9. It Cosmetics CC+ Cream – I’m not sure I’m looking forward to this one, I’ve been trying to product out and it’s not as amazing as I thought it would be, it’s also a bit too dark for me still, so I end up using drops to lighten it. I guess we’ll see how this one goes.

Amount  Left: 90%

PSX_20170904_154238

10. NARS Velvet Lip Glide in Bound – I think I actually have two of these, not completely sure how I’ve come across two of them but I have, the goal is just to finish up one of them, however, if I finish up both that’s even better.

Amount  Left: 100%

11. Skin Food Black Sugar Mask – This is just a tiny little sample pot of this, so I’m sure I’ll have no problem getting through this one. I’m excited to give this a try, I’ve heard really good things and so far I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried from this brand.

Amount  Left: 100%

12. Clinique Pep Start Hydro Rish Moisturizer – I love this line so much, or at least every product I’ve tried so far, which has been three or four things I believe. This is also just a little tiny sample product that I’m going to be finished within no time, I’m sure of it.

Amount  Left: 90%

13. Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream – Another product from this range, this one is still a sample size but it’s a little large and I imagine this one will take me a little bit longer to finish up. I am super excited about trying out an eye cream though!

Amount  Left: 90%

14. Ouai Rose Hair + Body Oil – I’m not a fan of floral scents so I’m not sure if I’m going to like this one, everyone seems to be loving this brand so I am excited to test out some more products from them, but I’m just not sure how well I’m going to like this one.

Amount  Left: 100%

15. Ahava Dead Sea Crystal Osmoter Serum – I am not sure where I got this, not completely sure what this does and because of these two things, not sure why I’ve decided to include it in this project but I have, so we’re going to try and use this up and see how it goes.

Amount  Left: 100%

16. Milk Makeup Blur Stick – I just finished the one I was using from the last project, quite enjoyed it so I’ve decided to throw my other one in here and try to use it up. I am sure that I can’t-do that since I finished the other one up, granted, I finished it just a few days after the last project, but I bet if I really focus on this I’ll use it up in no time.

Amount  Left: 100%

PSX_20170904_154404

17. Tonymoly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar – I believe this is the peach one, I’m not one hundred percent sure since I don’t believe it says it on the product itself and I’ve had it for a little while. I enjoy this product but it doesn’t really do a whole lot for me, plus it’s a little bit on the older side, so it might be time for this one to go.

Amount  Left: 70%

18. Essence Super Fine Eye Liner Pen in Deep Black – I am almost out of the eyeliner I use regularly so I’ve decided to try and use this one up, I hear this one is supposed to be really good so I’m curious to see if it will beat out my regular and well-loved eyeliner.

Amount  Left: 50%

19. Maybelline Baby Lips in Grape Vine – I’m not even sure if they make this shade anymore, I didn’t see it on the Ulta website. This is one of my favorite easy to wear lip products for the fall season, it’s moisturizing, glossy and gives a nice berry kind of tint to the lips that is perfect for the fall season. The only downside to this one for me is that it smells awful, like artificial grape powder and I personally hate that.

Amount  Left: 95%

20. Becca Back Light Priming Filter – I feel like I’ve had this sample for way too long and I don’t know why I’ve never really used it, everyone and their dog seems to love it, so I guess I’m finally going to find out what the hype is about.

Amount  Left: 100%

21. Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Dopey – This is a little sample, I’ve pretty much gotten rid of all of my colour pop lip products, I’m just not a big fan of them and I think this might be the last one I have, so here’s to hoping I enjoy this one and can get through it all.

Amount  Left: 60%

22. Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Rose Gold – I have another makeup sample, this is such a pretty color and a product that I don’t think gets talked about enough, but when it does it seems like everyone who has used it loves it. I think this is going to be a pretty fun product to use up.

Amount  Left: 90%

23. The Estee Edit The Barest Contour Lip Liner in In The Buff – I’m pretty sure this brand doesn’t exist anymore? I feel like I heard something about that a little while ago, but I’ve done zero research into it. Either way, I’m trying to use up this lip liner. I’ve been into lip liner a lot more as of recently so I’m sure this one is going to be a breeze.

Amount  Left: 90%

24. Fiona Stiles Micro Precision Brow Sculpting Pencil in Neutral Brown – Another product that I think is going to be a breeze for me to use up, I say as a person who has never used up an entire brow pencil, but I’ve been enjoying using an eyebrow pencil a lot more recently so I’m thinking this one should be simple enough.

Amount  Left: 100%

25. Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in In The Nude – This is pretty much my go-to waterline eyeliner, I like a nice nude waterline. I have been wanting to try out another pencil though so I’m hoping to get through this one and start trying out a couple other eyeliners.

Amount  Left: 50%

26. Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss in Papa Don’t Peach – This one is back! If I don’t finish this one up during this project I’m probably going to end up passing it along because I’m never going to use it. This color is so pretty and so effortless, however, I really don’t like the scent of this product so it always holds me back on wanting to use it. We’ll have to wait and see how this one really goes.

Amount  Left: 90%

PSX_20170904_154518

27. Lorac Pro Matte Palette – Another product that is back and is pretty much impossible for me to ever use up, but I’m giving it another try. I have on shade completely gone, two almost finished, two with dents in them and three that are really going to need more love. I’m not expecting to finish this one up but I’ll see how it goes and how much I can really use up, I’m really hoping to finish the two that are basically done and the two with noticeable dents, but that might be too much. We will see.

Amount  Left: 70%

28. NYX Ombre Blush in Mauve Me – I love this blush! It’s probably one of my favorite ones for the fall time, it’s just perfect and so easy to wear with just about any look, I have had this for a while and I figured this would be a good one to use up. I’ll be sad to see it go but excited to use it up. Not that I really think I’m going to be able to finish up an entire blush in 3.5 months, but then again, who really knows.

Amount  Left: 90%

29. Honest Beauty Invisible Blurring Powder – I ran out of setting powder when I started putting together this list, so I dug through my stash and found this loose powder, which is what I’ve been using for the past couple of weeks now. Not sure how this one is going to go but I’m sure if I put my mind to it I can complete this one.

Amount  Left: 100%

30. Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Smoke N Whistles – I think this might have been the first highlighter that I ever owned, so it’s safe to say that I’ve had this one for a little while, this was also the first thing I ever really used from the brand I think or at least one of the first things. I think since I’m going to be focusing on using up this highlighter it’s going to be a breeze to use up.

Amount  Left: 50%

31. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light – Does it make me a liar because above I said I ran out of setting powder? I feel like this doesn’t because this isn’t just a typical setting powder, or at least I don’t think it is. While this is something that I want to use up I don’t think this is something that I would want to use every single day, mostly because I’m not sure that’s the look I’m always going for. I love this powder, I’m sad it’s so expensive but this is something that I’m hoping to use more and enjoy more and not think about the price, which is a little bit of the reason why it’s in this project.

Amount  Left: 85%

32.-40. Lush Products – This one I will break down into a real number list as I go along, but for right now I’m grouping them together because I don’t have names for each item. I want to use up eight Lush bath products, which should be super easy and I really think I could use up more over the next three and half months, but I decided to keep at eight for two reasons, one is that it makes it an even number and two is that it’s a little bit of a challenging number for me but it’s also something that I can easily accomplish, which I know doesn’t make a whole lot of sense together. I’m hoping to use up some bath product because the Christmas range is coming and I am sure I will snatch some of that up, so I need to use up some of the stuff I currently own before that happens.

And that is everything that I am including in this project pan! It’s a lot of things, I really honestly don’t think I’m going to get through them all, but I am excited to try to and to give some of my favorite products some heavy duty loving, but also try out some new things and see what I end up liking and not liking. I feel like that is a huge advantage to project pans for me, and probably to everyone, but finding out things that I love and don’t love are super useful. Anyway, I think I’m going to end this here because I’m sure this post has been far too long.

August 2017 Favorites + Face

August 2017 Favorites+ Face

I know, it’s Friday! And you might be wondering what I’m doing here, Friday isn’t one of my usual days to blog on and this isn’t a post that I would forget about seeing as I do it every month. I have put myself on a new schedule, pretty much for the same reasons as last time, I have so many ideas and so much content that I can’t get it out fast enough. However, I can not daily blog because that is something that I just couldn’t keep up with, so because of that I have settled on five days a week. I’ve done this before but I’m hoping to stick to it, I guess we’ll see how it went in the month of October, but until then you will be seeing me on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

Anyway, enough of my rambling about schedules and all of those boring things, it’s the start of a new month which means that it is time for some monthly favorites and face, so let’s just jump right on into this one.

PSX_20170826_172653

Milk Makeup Blur Stick – This is just a little sample size but I love this one! I have another little sample of it and once I’m through them I’m probably really going to debate purchasing a full size. This does not work like a primer if you ask me, it doesn’t really prolong the wear of my makeup, but it does make my face look poreless and smooth, it blurs if you will. The only downfall is the smell, it smells chemical and I don’t like it, it’s not too bad though.

NYX Blotting Powder in Light  – I think you can see that this is well loved, this has been my go to powder as of recently. I don’t think this is anything outlandish or out there, but it’s a nice powder and I’m happy with it.

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara – This has been my new favorite mascara, especially combined with the product below, it just makes my lashes super wow and great. This is very black, it doesn’t really clump up that much and it makes my lashes super long.

L’oreal Voluminous Primer Mascara  – I have weird feelings about this, sometimes I wonder if this is really doing things for me but other times I know that it for sure is doing something, especially when paired with the mascara above. I have tried this with one other mascara and it just clumped up my lashes majorly, so I guess this one is something that you have to play around with in terms of which products you can use it with.

psx_20170826_171941.jpg

Pixi Glow Tonic Toner  – I love this stuff way more than I ever thought I would, this is my second bottle and I’m glad I kept using it. This makes my skin feel so soft and smooth, it also gives me a little bit of a glow I think, and I love that! This combined with the two cleansers I use is just a perfect combination, so I think I’m getting closer to my perfect skincare routine.

J.Cat Beauty Dry Makeup Brush Cleaner – This is something I didn’t think I would really need, I was using a hair doughnut and I think it was working just fine, however, I ordered this because I was curious and had my eye on it for quite some time and I’m glad that I did. I think this works better than my little hair doughnut and it catches all of the shadows fall out in the container, this is a fantastic purchase and a great bargain.

Mac Trip The Light Fantastic Powder in Strange New Worlds – This is the only product I couldn’t link because it is limited edition, some people don’t like to share limited edition product on their blogs due to lack of being able to get your hands on them, but sometimes I just really like a product and need to share it. This is a really light blush on me or a really great cheek topper, but I’m very favorable of it.

Tonymoly Peach Punch Sweet Foam Cleanser – This is something that I just started using this month even though I bought it months ago, but I guess it’s better late than never. I love this stuff! It has a really faint peachy scent, I personally find it gentle enough to use around my eyes and it leaves my skin feeling so clean, plus this is really affordable so really it’s win-win.

Eyes: Lorac Behind The Scenes Eye Primer, Carli Bybel Deluxe Edition Palette, Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir, Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2-In-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum in Ultra Black, L’oreal Voluminous Base Mascara and Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara. Face: Milk Makeup Blur Stick, Mac Strobe Cream, Dr. Jar+ Beauty Balm in Light/Medium, Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer in Light Neutral, NYX Blotting Powder in Light, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, Mac Trip The Light Fantastic Powder in Strange New Worlds and treStique Highlight Stick. Lips: Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Audition.

And that is the face that I chose for this month, this time around I kind of did a hybrid of creating a looking and picking a look out the represented the month. I think this month had a pretty good mix of products in it, both new and older and all things that I’m really loving.

What are some of your favorites from August?

Why August 2017 Was Awesome + Goals

Why August WasAwesome!

Another month over, I can’t believe it but I am excited to say goodbye to October and hello to September, mostly because it’s my birthday month and that really excites me. I guess this month technically isn’t over yet, but it’s close enough as it’s the last day. Anyway, let’s just get right on into talking about the month of August.

I think the most exciting thing that I can think of that happened during the month of August was that I went to get my wedding dress altered, which is both exciting and sad, but I don’t really want to talk about the sad part right now, maybe I’ll mention it in my healthy update or maybe I’ll mention it in my monthly wrap up for September. But, anyway, it’s exciting because that means it’s not six inches too long anymore and that’s a great thing, I go back the day before my birthday to make sure everything fits and looks the way I want it to, which is very exciting and I’m hoping everything is perfect, I’m sure it will be but I’m hoping for it all to be perfect still.

Something fun we did recently was we went bowling and mini golfing in this month, maybe it’s a little bit childish but I really enjoy doing both of these things. I beat my fiance at bowling, which is a rare occurrence as I am not that great of a bowler and if I’m being honest, that was a really satisfying moment.

Other than that I’m not really sure there’s been much going on in my life this past month, we did get together flowers for the wedding sorted out, I guess that’s a thing that should be featured in a post. We haven’t seen them yet but we are getting a sample arrangement put together sometime during the month of September, probably close to my birthday, which is exciting. Other than that my month has been all blogging, working and trying to focus on getting in better shape and such.

I did now have a header on the blog! In case you guys didn’t see, it’s very simple but I personally like that and am pretty happy with it. I’m also updating my images I use to pin, so that should be pretty exciting but that’s more of a next month thing than it is this month one.

Let’s talk about last months goals and how they went. Let’s start with my No Buy, that did not go as well as expected, I was doing really well until the Ulta platinum appreciation event where there were a lot of things that were 10x the points and the rest were 5x, it’s safe to say that I have some new things to play with that you guys will see later on and have a ton of points, but other than that day I broke my no buy one other time which I think was pretty good. I think something else I’ve done really well with is my Social Media, I don’t think I am quite where I want to be with it, nor as active as I might want to be but I think I’ve gotten more active and have taken a couple big steps in the right direction. Driving More this is the one that I have failed at over the past month, I haven’t driven at all, so this is something I’m still going to have to work on. 250 Followers, this might have been me biting off a more than I could chew because I did not get here this month, however, I did hit over 200 followers this past month and I’m happy about that. Thank you guys for that! And the last one is my Reading Challenge, I did not get ahead like I had really wanted to but I have caught up and I am really happy about that, I didn’t like falling behind.

Driving More. I failed miserably at this one last month so this is one that I want to bring back because this really needs to happen.

Getting Ahead With My Reading Challenge. It’s nice being caught up but I really like being ahead, just incase things get hectic later in the year as I really want to finish this reading challenge, I want to be able to say I read a book a week in 2017.

Social Media. Of course, this is back on here as well, but I do want to work on this one a little bit, I have some room for improvement and I think I’m almost there.

Losing Weight. I am not going to beat myself up if I don’t reach this goal, but I would love to lose five pounds by the end of September, which honestly seems like a really easy goal, especially if I stick to the track I’m on.

Decluttering. I have so much makeup and if I’m being honest I’m always getting new stuff, so during the month of September I am really hoping to do a bunch of going through my stuff and getting rid of some things, which means there may be a blog post about that sometime in October.

And that was everything about August and everything I’m hoping to accomplish in the month of September, I guess we’ll see how it all went next month!

What was your favorite part of August?

The Disney Tag

The Disney Tag

I’m back with another Disney tag, I did one a few months ago that I completely forgot about so I’m back doing another one because I can, this one seems to have different questions so that for sure makes it okay, right? Right. Let’s jump in and talk about some Disney.

  1. Favourite scene in a princess movie? Oh gosh, this one is hard, this whole tag might be a little bit hard. I think my favorite scene in a Disney movie has to be the entire scene in the snuggly duck during Tangled, it’s just fun and I really enjoy it.
  2. Last Disney movie you watched? I think the last one I saw in full was Moana, I really need to watch more soon because it’s been a while.
  3. Is your family Disney obsessed? I don’t think I would say they are obsessed, I think they like Disney fine but I not as much as me!
  4. How many times have you visited the Parks? I’ve only ever been to Disney World and I have been more times than I can count probably, which I completely blame on being from Orlando, it’s not that weird to go to Disney a ton when you live in Orlando.
  5. Which Park is your favourite? I guess I would have to say Disney World ’cause that’s the only park I’ve ever been to.
  6. Cinderella’s Castle or Sleeping Beauty’s Castle? Cinderella’s
  7. Favourite animal-themed movie? This one is super simple for me, The Aristocats is my all time favorite animal themed movie.
  8. Would you get married/have your honeymoon in the Parks? I would not want to get married at the parks, it seems a little bit weird to me and I just don’t like it. Now, honeymoon maybe, I don’t think it would be my first choice but I wouldn’t be mad about it either.
  9. If you could date one of the characters, who would it be and why? Flynn Rider, 100%
  10. Favourite villain? Probably Maleficent, I think she’s just a really huge villain, and while I do love Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent is a pretty bad ass villain.
  11. If you could have two characters from two different movies meet, who would they be and why? There are a ton of pairings that I could see coming together for various different reasons, but if I had to pick one I think it would be Rapunzel and Ariel because I think they would enjoy each other and it would be entertaining to see the two interact.
  12. Have you ever met any of the characters at the Parks? Yes, I’ve met all kinds of characters at the parks before, the last time I went I met Starlord and Groot, which was a really fun and cool experience.
  13. Favourite live-action Disney movie? I haven’t seen any of the newer live action fairytales yet and I don’t think I’m brushed up enough on other live action movies to really comment.
  14. Mickey or Minnie? That’s so hard and feels like an unfair question, it’s like picking my left or right leg. If I had to chose I think I would pick Mickey, he’s just really classic and screams Disney.
  15. Which Disney movie is overrated? Frozen. I love Frozen but I think it is over hyped and overrated, it’s a good movie but it’s not the best thing that Disney has ever made.
  16. Favourite Pixar movie? Probably Up, Monster’s Inc. or The Incredibles. I can’t pick!
  17. Favourite sidekick? This one is hard, there are so many options, but probably Pascal.
  18. Favourite Disney movie and why? I think I have to pick Tangled, it’s my favorite princess film hands down but I also think it’s just my favorite Disney movie. I feel like I identify with Rapunzel a little bit, plus this movie is stunning and the soundtrack is so good!

I just want to say that I tag everyone who wants to do this! If you do this you should tag me in it so I can read all about you guys’s Disney preferences. I think this was really fun and something a little bit different.

Do you love Disney?

Review: Anastasia Subculture Eyeshadow Palette

Anastasia SubculturePalette Review

It’s the last Sunday of the month of August, which means it is time for my final season and my final palette review, in case you want to see last weeks, which is Autumn of course, and if you want to see them all, that one should link you to the week before and that one the one before so you can see all of the seasons. For winter I’ve settled on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette, a very talked about palette that I did purchase the day it came out, I was excited and just couldn’t wait. So, I have had this one a while but have been sitting on the review as I wanted it to be my winter palette and I wanted to make sure to have a nice amount of time to play with it. Let’s get on into it.

20170729_162228

I didn’t see any reason in sharing the box that this came in because it looks exactly like the palette packaging itself. I have mixed feelings about the packaging, just like my Modern Rennasiance palette, I like the look of it but I kind of hate the feel of it, I just don’t much care for the feel of velvet combined with the fact that it feels like a type of material that would get dirty really quickly, even if it is dark.

20170729_162243Now, this palette has been getting a lot of feedback about it being too powdery and impossible to blend, I do not agree with that completely. The formula of the matte shadows are very powdery, but I personally don’t think they give off much more kick back than my Modern Renaissance palette does. The shimmers are a different story, the shimmers are much different than the ones in its sister palette, those one are creamy and amazing but these ones are just hard to work with. I’ve found cube does pretty well as an inner corner highlight, it’s impossible to work with otherwise though. Adorn and Electric are really similar in texture, I find that both of these can be worked with alright but I pretty much have to apply them with my fingers, which for me isn’t that big of a deal but I know for some they don’t want to do that.

The formula of that mattes is amazing though, they are a big powdery and a little bit harder for me to work with than their sister palette, but boy do they pack a punch of color and that is something that I really love.

Now, to talk about the swatches, we are going to go from top to bottom of course. Cube, which you pretty much cannot see, is a light shimmer white kind of colors. Dawn is a really pretty matte, light reddish brown, it’s really quite pretty. Destiny is the perfect dark, matte army green shade. Adorn is a really pretty copper shimmer shade. All Star is one of the stars of this palette if you ask me, it’s a deep blood red matte shade that is just stunning. Mercury reminds me a lot of a really dark taupe kind of shade, it’s interesting for sure. Axis is a really pretty deep matte marine kind of blue, it looks a lot like the marine shade I saw often when looking and bridesmaid dresses. Roxy is a confusing shade if you ask me, it looks light and sherberty in the pan but swatched and on the eye, it is a lot brighter. Electric is pretty interesting, you can barely see it here and it almost looks silver with a green flash to it but it is way more interesting than that, I’m not really sure how to describe it but it’s green, shimmery and really pretty. Fudge looks exactly how I would think it would, a pretty dark red brown. New Wave is one of my favorites as well, it’s a gorgeous matte pumpkin kind of shade. Untamed is a really dark forest green, it’s really similar to Axis but less blue and more muted. Edge is one of the more interesting colors in this group of shadows, it’s kind of a mustard shade and that’s not a common shade, however, I personally love the look of it. And finally Rowdy, which is a really deep, dark purple shade, a blackened plum if you will, it’s very pretty but it almost looks black.

I had a little bit of trouble with this palette, there is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to the application with this one, however, I think it’s something that I’m doing alright with. Anyway, these are the three looks that I came up with and they feature some of my favorite shades; Electric, Axis, Edge and All Star to name a few. I feel like this palette has a great selection of shades, and while they are a tiny bit random it makes for a ton of versatility in looks and that is something that I quite enjoy.

I feel like I sound like I hate this palette by talking about the fact that it is a little harder to work with than other eyeshadow palettes that I’ve tried, however, I actually quite enjoy this palette. If I’m being honest it isn’t my all time favorite eyeshadow palette, but it’s not my least either, and I personally do not regret picking this one up one bit. I think I need to play with it a little bit more, but overall I am satisfied with all of the looks I’ve created and I enjoy this one.

Did you guys enjoy seeing a palette review every week?

Review: Tarte FRXXXTION Stick

Tarte FrXXXtion Stick Review

I am back with a review today, today’s review should be a good one because I have actually completely used this one up which means I should be able to thoroughly comment on this one because of that. As per usual, I have way more content coming to me than I can keep up, partially because I am a hoarder and partially because I’m always coming up with new ideas, however, I guess that’s alright since that means I’ve always got something to write about. Anyway, today I’m just going to focus on this product!

20170426_141549.jpgThis is the Tarte Frxxxtion Stick, it’s a 3 in 1 exfoliating cleanser, according to the Tarte website it’s a cleanser, exfoliator and face mask all in one. It also twists up, which is really handy. The product comes with 1 full ounce of product for $22.00, which isn’t the best but that’s not half bad, especially since I used mine regularly and had it for at least two months, so that’s not bad at all.

Let’s talk about the packaging of this a little bit, this comes in a pretty standard box, it’s nothing exciting which is why I didn’t really feel the need to share a photo of it, however, I did want to mention it. Now, onto the actual product packaging, which is really straightforward but I quite like that. I don’t think this is the simplest packaging ever but I do think it’s very basic and very Tarte, it’s just a cylinder that turns at the base and it has a gold top, I do like the gold accents on this a lot. The only complaint that I might have about the packaging is that after using this for a little while the inner part of the cap starts to separate from the outer cap, I kept having to shove it back into the outer cap and it was kind of annoying, not that big of a deal but annoying still.
20170426_141602.jpgAnd now this is what the actual product itself looks like, it’s just a black solid form, it almost looks like deodorant but it is for sure not. This product has a fine scrubbing element in it, I’m honestly not sure what that element is but I do know that it’s in there. I think it’s super gentle because I could use this product every day and it wouldn’t irritate my skin, I don’t have the most sensitive skin ever but my skin isn’t not sensitive, if that makes any sense whatsoever.

I never used this product for anything other than a cleanser, and I guess an exfoliator as you can’t really avoid that no matter if you use this as a cleanser or a face mask, but anyway I can’t vouch how well this works as a face mask but I can talk about it as a cleanser. I found that this worked really well and cleaning my face, it was something that would get all of my makeup off, the only thing about that is that you shouldn’t use this on or too close to your eyes, I never tried it but this does not seem like a product that you should do that with as it would probably irritate, but for the rest of my face it did a good job at deep cleaning and gently exfoliating, which is something that I love.

The application is very simple, I personally just twisted it up a little bit and then wiped it all over my face, finishing it but rubbing it in with my hands. The scent of this is honestly so faint that I don’t even remember what it smelled like, I never really noticed it so if you are sensitive to scents I don’t think this one will bother you at all. Overall, I liked this product and am glad that I purchased it, in fact I feel like I will repurchase this some time in the future I’m just not entirely sure when.

What is your favorite facial cleanser?
