Winter Skincare 2017

WinterSkincare

Winter is approaching rather rapidly, officially winter starts on Thursday which is only four days away, so it’s coming up quickly. Because of that, I decided I’d get a little tiny jump start on this and talk about it today instead of on Thursday. Today is all about winter skincare, which really means I’m going to talk a little bit about the products that I am mostly using this winter time, so let’s get right on into it.

Review: Buxom Plump, Pucker & Prowl

Buxom Plump, Pucker

It’s time to review another makeup product and another review of a holiday set that I have acquired, it’s another lip set, that’s pretty much everything that I’ve picked up this year. I have a bigger Buxom set but we’re going to start out with the Buxom Plump, Pucker & Prowl because it is smaller and it just makes more sense to me to leave the biggest one for last… even though there are only two. Let’s jump in and talk about this set.

Battle: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance vs. Makeup Geek Singles

Untitled design

It’s that fantastic time of the month again, the time where I talk about product dupes, I really love doing these because it’s always nice to know if you can get a product for less or if it’s just not worth it. Last month was all about blushes and this month is about eyeshadow, I’ll be putting Modern Renaissance up against some Makeup Geek shades. I was inspired by this photo that I saw on Pinterest, which I did not do all of the shades as I just wanted to do this shades that I already owned, so today we will be talking about five of the shades. If you guys are really interested in seeing more dupes from the Modern Renaissance I might do the rest sometime in the future, but for now, I’m doing five, so let’s get into it.

Fall 2017 Makeup Wishlist!

Fall MakeupWishlist

I am on a no buy right now so doing this post is really helping with that, it’s like window shopping, which can be satisfying as well, though never quite as good as actual shopping.  So, I guess I’m just going to share some of the things that I’ve been looking at, debating drooling over, etc. and talk just a bit about them. Let’s dive on into my wishlist for the fall season.

September 2017 Shop My Stash

It’s time for me to introduce a new series to my blog, or at least I think it’s going to be a new series, we’ll see how this one goes this month and then see if I decide to do it again next month. Today I will be shopping my stash, something that I feel is pretty popular in the blogging and youtube community. Basically, I’m looking through my collection and picking out some items that I really want to focus on using for the month, they aren’t the only things that I can use but they are things that I’m just really feeling like focusing my attention on. So, let’s see what I’ll be using for the month of September.

Review: Anastasia Subculture Eyeshadow Palette

Anastasia SubculturePalette Review

It’s the last Sunday of the month of August, which means it is time for my final season and my final palette review, in case you want to see last weeks, which is Autumn of course, and if you want to see them all, that one should link you to the week before and that one the one before so you can see all of the seasons. For winter I’ve settled on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette, a very talked about palette that I did purchase the day it came out, I was excited and just couldn’t wait. So, I have had this one a while but have been sitting on the review as I wanted it to be my winter palette and I wanted to make sure to have a nice amount of time to play with it. Let’s get on into it.

20170729_162228

I didn’t see any reason in sharing the box that this came in because it looks exactly like the palette packaging itself. I have mixed feelings about the packaging, just like my Modern Rennasiance palette, I like the look of it but I kind of hate the feel of it, I just don’t much care for the feel of velvet combined with the fact that it feels like a type of material that would get dirty really quickly, even if it is dark.

20170729_162243Now, this palette has been getting a lot of feedback about it being too powdery and impossible to blend, I do not agree with that completely. The formula of the matte shadows are very powdery, but I personally don’t think they give off much more kick back than my Modern Renaissance palette does. The shimmers are a different story, the shimmers are much different than the ones in its sister palette, those one are creamy and amazing but these ones are just hard to work with. I’ve found cube does pretty well as an inner corner highlight, it’s impossible to work with otherwise though. Adorn and Electric are really similar in texture, I find that both of these can be worked with alright but I pretty much have to apply them with my fingers, which for me isn’t that big of a deal but I know for some they don’t want to do that.

20170729_162549

The formula of that mattes is amazing though, they are a big powdery and a little bit harder for me to work with than their sister palette, but boy do they pack a punch of color and that is something that I really love.

Now, to talk about the swatches, we are going to go from top to bottom of course. Cube, which you pretty much cannot see, is a light shimmer white kind of colors. Dawn is a really pretty matte, light reddish brown, it’s really quite pretty. Destiny is the perfect dark, matte army green shade. Adorn is a really pretty copper shimmer shade. All Star is one of the stars of this palette if you ask me, it’s a deep blood red matte shade that is just stunning. Mercury reminds me a lot of a really dark taupe kind of shade, it’s interesting for sure. Axis is a really pretty deep matte marine kind of blue, it looks a lot like the marine shade I saw often when looking and bridesmaid dresses. Roxy is a confusing shade if you ask me, it looks light and sherberty in the pan but swatched and on the eye, it is a lot brighter. Electric is pretty interesting, you can barely see it here and it almost looks silver with a green flash to it but it is way more interesting than that, I’m not really sure how to describe it but it’s green, shimmery and really pretty. Fudge looks exactly how I would think it would, a pretty dark red brown. New Wave is one of my favorites as well, it’s a gorgeous matte pumpkin kind of shade. Untamed is a really dark forest green, it’s really similar to Axis but less blue and more muted. Edge is one of the more interesting colors in this group of shadows, it’s kind of a mustard shade and that’s not a common shade, however, I personally love the look of it. And finally Rowdy, which is a really deep, dark purple shade, a blackened plum if you will, it’s very pretty but it almost looks black.

I had a little bit of trouble with this palette, there is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to the application with this one, however, I think it’s something that I’m doing alright with. Anyway, these are the three looks that I came up with and they feature some of my favorite shades; Electric, Axis, Edge and All Star to name a few. I feel like this palette has a great selection of shades, and while they are a tiny bit random it makes for a ton of versatility in looks and that is something that I quite enjoy.

I feel like I sound like I hate this palette by talking about the fact that it is a little harder to work with than other eyeshadow palettes that I’ve tried, however, I actually quite enjoy this palette. If I’m being honest it isn’t my all time favorite eyeshadow palette, but it’s not my least either, and I personally do not regret picking this one up one bit. I think I need to play with it a little bit more, but overall I am satisfied with all of the looks I’ve created and I enjoy this one.

Did you guys enjoy seeing a palette review every week?

Review: Too Faced Love Flush Blush

Too Faced LoveFlush BlushReview

I’m sure anyone who knows me somewhat well, or has read a few posts here on the blog, knows that I adore my Love Flush Blush in Baby Love, somehow I haven’t reviewed it on the blog but it’s something I love so much that I’ve included it in two yearly favorites, 2016 and 2015. Even though that one is well loved I may have to whip it out and review it too.

20170325_175044.jpgThat is not what today’s post it about, today’s post is about the Too Faced Love Flush Blush in How Deep Is Your Love? and that is what I will be reviewing for you guys today. This little guy will run you $26 for 0.21oz which I believe comes out to $123.81 per oz. Which is a ton of product and would last you a long, long time if you were to get an ounce of product. Anyway, I don’t think this is the most expensive blush but it is for sure in that mid range price range. However, I picked mine up during the Ulta 21 Days of Beauty Sale which meant it was half off, I’m still kind of kicking myself for not picking more up because, spoiler, I love the formula of these. I’m sure that was already probably clear by the first little bit of this post, me rambling about baby love, then again this is a different color so the formula could be different and something that I don’t find enjoyable, but it’s not. Anyway, let’s jump into reviewing this blush.

20170325_175107_001.jpgI want to start this out by talking about the packaging, you will see more of it in photos to come because this entire thing is the cutest and I couldn’t leave anything out because of how cute the packaging is as a whole. Seriously, from the box to the compact to the blush itself is just cute. This may be the best packaging that I own and possibly have ever seen, it’s just so cute. I may be overusing the word cute but this just makes me do that, it’s Too Faced’s fault.

As you can see, there is a lot of detail in the box and it’s all very appealing to look at if you ask me, but that’s probably enough since you guys can see for yourself. I will say, I was really tempted to keep this box but I stopped that hoarder inside of me from doing that.

Once you open the box and slip the product out, it’s the really cute and simple heart compact that matches the color of the blush, I’ll post a picture below so you can see.

20170325_175134.jpgIt’s very simple but reminds me of a magical girl, which makes me really happy because I love magical girls. I also love the packaging is slim and simple, it makes it easier to store and easier to travel with, not that I travel a whole lot anymore.

Anyway, once you open the product and look inside there is the blush itself, all of the beautiful powder and of course, that is also adorable,  I’ll share a photo after this one so you can see for yourself. It has bunnies and a design imprinted on it.

Now, to finally talk about the product itself, this blush probably has one of my favorite formulas that I have tried so far. It’s pretty pigmented, but I find that it is very easy to blend out for a softer and more diffused look but also really easy to build up for a brighter more bold kind of look. I love that this is so versatile.

20170325_175200.jpgThe powder itself is also very nice, it’s very soft and feels fairly finely milled, but I don’t find that I have a lot of kickback either, it’s a very nice texture for a powder to be.

The other thing about this is that it has really good staying powder, I find that this blush looks really nice throughout the day. It just wears really well.

Overall, I really love these blushes and think they are great quality, I would for sure recommend these to anyone who is looking for a really nice blush or wanting to treat themselves just a little bit, you won’t regret it. I really should have picked up more of these but it’s too late now.

20170325_175229.jpg

I had this photo and just wanted to make sure to share it because swatches are important to a review, I think. I wanted to make sure that you guys could see it a bit sheered out and at it’s full potency. It really isn’t the most pigmented thing ever but it does make it very easy to use and go in either direction, like I mentioned above.

So, what do you guys think of the Love Flush Blushes if you have any?

Engagement Photo Makeup

Engagement Photo Makeup

I know I just did a makeup look of sorts the other day, a full face using only Nyx brand makeup, but I’m back with another makeup look. As you may know, I’m getting married this year and we’re thinking about doing engagement photos, so I’ve been thinking about what to wear, how to do my hair and things like that, which means I’m going to show off what looks like will be my makeup for the photos. We will be taking photos outside and it’s going to be fairly casual, so I didn’t over do it and kept it fairly simple I think. Let me show you what I’m thinking about doing.

I like this look, I think this is a really simple but fresh look, I think this is something that I could wear just about anywhere, in fact, I wore it to work the other day and I think it was even perfect for that. Granted, where I work no one really seems to care what I wear in terms of makeup, but I still think this is overall a really work appropriate makeup look. Now, here’s some close ups of the eye and then I’ll list all of the products that I used down below it.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Wet ‘N Wild Contouring Palette in Dulce De Leche

Anastasia Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette in Golden Ochre, Warm Taupe, and Cyprus Umber

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sin

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Shimma Shimma

Milani Liquid Eye Eyeliner in Black

Physicians Formula Eye Booster Eyeliner in Ultra Black

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara in Black

Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner in In The Nude

Benefit The Porefessional

Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm in Etheric

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Snow

L.A. Girl Pro Concealer in Porcelain

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronzer

Milani Baked Blush in Bella Bellini

Wet ‘N Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals

Maybelline Fit Me Powder in Porcelain

Milani Make It Last Setting Spray

Nyx Butter Gloss in Madeleine

And that is everything that I used, a really good mix of high end and drugstore products, along with some new things which you may know if you saw my huge Ulta Haul I posted on Tuesday, I was itching to try out at least a few of the new things and they seemed like perfect fits here. So far, I like everything but I’ll have more in-depth reviews of products at some point in time.

What do you guys think of this look?
