ELF Blushing Rose Vs.NARS Dolce Vita

It’s time for another dupe post, I really love doing these posts and this month we will be battling a couple of blushes. As you probably already know but the title, we will be battling the NARS Blush in Dolce Vita and ELF Blush in Blushing Rose, two very different price points but these are supposed to be dupes. Instead of talking about these let’s just jump right on into this dupe post!

Battle: Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer vs. NYX HD Concealer

Battle- Urban DecayVs.Nyx Concealer

I’m back with another battle post this month! I’ve been trying to do these every month since I started doing them in March, so far I’ve only missed one month, which I am a bit disappointed in myself over, but either way, I am here this month with a new one. This one is all about concealer, which may be why you clicked on this post, I will be testing the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Light Neutral against the NYX HD Photo Concealer in Alabaster. I believe I’ve seen that these two are supposed to be dupes on Pinterest, so let’s put them to the test and find out what I think about these two as dupes.

PSX_20170904_154704

Let’s start this one out by talking about the packaging, I am aware the packaging doesn’t really matter in terms of if something is a dupe or not, but I like to talk a little bit about it just to compare. I only have a mini of the Urban Decay concealer but I imagine that the full size looks the same and feels about the same. I honestly don’t really notice a quality difference between the packaging of these two, neither are particularly cheap but neither feel high end either. I will say, I think I prefer the Urban Decay packaging a little bit more but this is all based purely on appearance, I just feel like it looks cleaner and brighter, which is something that I prefer.

Now we’re going to talk about the price and how much you get with each product, a full size of the Urban Decay will run you $29.00 and you get 0.16 oz of product, whereas the NYX one will run you $4.99 and you get a total of 0.11oz of product. There is a little bit of difference in price but if these two are dupes, the NYX one ends up being considerably cheaper, it may have a little less product but you can purchase nearly six of these for the same price as the Urban Decay one.

The other thing to note about these two is that the Urban Decay one comes in fourteen different shades and the NYX one is twenty-two different shades, although three of those shades are color correctors so there is that. Urban Decay also sells color correctors but it’s kind of sold as a different product, but that’s just something to keep in mind when talking about the shade range. Still, I think so far the NYX one is looking a lot better just based on price and shade options, but I think the most important part is the wear and formula of the product.

I’m going to put off the formula discussing for just a little bit longer to talk about the wands, you can see the NYX one to the right and you can see the Urban Decay one down below. The sponges are not the same, this one is more of a classic doe foot applicator and the Urban Decay one is more of a flat and skinny one, I don’t really have a preference of one over the other, they are basically the same if you ask me. I’m going to put off the formula discussing for just a little bit longer to talk about the wands, you can see the NYX one to the right and you can see the Urban Decay one down below. I guess the most obvious thing about these two are that they are not the same shade, not even close, I could have probably found a better match in the Urban Decay but I was just wanting to get a mini to try it out. Spoiler, I would have liked it more if the shade was right. The left is the Urban Decay and the right is the NYX.

I personally do not think these two are dupes, I just don’t find that the formula matches up quite right. I find that the Urban Decay feels a little more lightweight but has better coverage than the NYX, which is a huge bonus for it. I actually used the NYX HD concealer for quite some time and did not expect to have any doubts in my mind that it would be better, but I’m thinking the Urban Decay one might be something I like a little more. I do like that the NYX one is more brightening, but that may be more to do with the shade choice than the formula.

In this photo, I am wearing the NYX concealer under my right eye, which is the left in the photo, and the Urban Decay on the left which is the right in the photo. That may have been a bit confusing but I think that makes sense. I think that while the NYX side looks brighter, the Urban Decay side looks a lot more well covered like it covered up my under eye bags better.

There is a difference in texture as well, I find that the Urban Decay one feels a little bit more whipped whereas the NYX one feels more creamy and a little bit thicker.

The other thing to note about these two is that the Urban Decay one has a little bit of an odor to it, nothing over the top or overwhelming about it, but it does, whereas I don’t really smell anything with the NYX one other than maybe a little bit of that generic makeup kind of smell. Neither are offensive or irritating to the eyes or skin.

So, overall I do not think these are dupes, I think both are fine concealers but I do think that the Urban Decay one is better, neither of these are my all time favorite concealer, but I do think they are both nice. Not dupes in the slightest bit though.

What dupes would you like to see?

Battle: The Balm Vs NYX Liquid Lipstick

The BalmVs.NYX

It feels like it has been forever since I have done a dupe post, that’s probably because I completely forgot to schedule in a dupe post last month, I don’t know what is wrong with me but it completely slipped my mind. I think I was doing pretty good, making sure I got a dupe post out every month but I guess my streak is broken now. I am getting back to it though with a battle of the liquid lipsticks, I will be battling The Balm Meet Matt(e) Huges in Sincere and NYX Liquid Suede in Softspoken.  So, let’s just jump right on in and find out of these two products are dupes.

I guess I am going to start this post out by talking about the obvious thing here, the color of these two products. On the hand swatch, the NYX is on the left and The Balm on the right, which there they look really quite different at least to me they do. Like, on the hand they are close enough to not really need both, even though I already owned both, but at the same time, I can see a difference between the two. The left is a little bit darker and a little less red, which I enjoy more and the right is, of course, lighter and a little bit more red in color. So, I wasn’t really confident on these being dupes because the swatches just weren’t matching up at all.

However, I continued on to see what they looked like on the lips and on the top lip I wore the NYX Liquid Suede and the bottom was The Balm Meet Matt(e) Huges, and much to my surprise these two do look like color dupes to me. I can barely tell the difference, the slightest difference I can see between the two is that the NYX one is still a tiny bit darker, but my fiance couldn’t tell the difference until I pointed out that I was wearing two different lipsticks. So, upon first glance, I don’t think these are color dupes but on the lips, these look almost identical and way close enough to not need to own both of these.

Now, I think it is time to talk about formula. I don’t think these guys are as close in the formula as they are color, granted I also don’t think they are that different really. I think that the NYX one actually lasts a tiny bit longer on the lips, both are about the same when it comes to the feel on the lips, not drying but not the most comfortable thing that I’ve ever worn on my lips either. I will say this, neither one of these lipsticks held up to the pizza I ate the day I was wearing these at all. So, the wear time of these aren’t that different really but I still stick by the NYX one wearing a little bit better.

So, overall I think that these are dupes, or at least close enough to not really need to own both of them. I do own both but now that I’ve seen that they are dupes of one another maybe I’ll declutter one, we’ll see how that goes the next time I’m looking through my stash.

What dupes would you guys be interested in seeing?

Battle: Urban Decay vs. Nyx Blush Edition

Battle- Urban DecayVs. Nyx

It is the time of the month where I bring out a dupe post, this month’s battle post is between the Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in the shade Rapture and the Nyx Ombre Blush in the shade Mauve Me. The Urban Decay one is $26.00 and the Nyx is $ 9.99, which is a difference if $16.99, so that is a fair chunk of change if they are dupes, that is. These two are ones that I haven’t seen posts about being dupes before, but I was looking through my stash and realized these two looked a lot alike so I decided to put them up against one another and see how it went, so let’s get into comparing and see if these two really are dupes of each other.

20170528_152559Of course, these guys are not dupes in terms of packaging, but I think that is to be expected, dupes don’t always have the same packaging. I like both of these fine, neither are my favorites but I don’t have a hatred of either, I’m just kind of neutral packaging wise here. None of this really matters but I did want to start out which this because that is what I do.

20170528_152613The powder itself is where the similarities start, these don’t look exactly the same in the pan, and not just because the Nyx one is ombre, but the color looks in the same vein but different shades of the same color, which is why I thought these two might be dupes. I think that the Urban Decay one looks quite a bit darker in the pan than the Nyx one, the darkest part of the Nyx one looks lighter but both are really pretty mauve toned blushes.

20170528_152647Now, when you swatch them side by side you can still see a bit of a difference when they aren’t blended out, the Urban Decay one is darker and more pigmented, whereas the Nyx one is a little bit more sheer and lighter, however, I do think when you blend the two out they look virtually the same. If anything, the Urban Decay on is still a little bit more pigmented and that is something that you can see when it’s blended out as well

Now, let’s talk a bit about the texture and lasting power of these two, I think they are both very soft powders and that the Urban Decay one actually kicks up a little bit more powder, which doesn’t bother me one bit but if that is something that bothers you then I would avoid that one. I think the lasting power on both of these blushes is really quite fantastic, they go on nicely, give a nice flush to the cheeks and they last for a good 8 hours without really fading much, they are really neck and neck when it comes to the formula of the powders I think.

So, overall I think these two are close enough that I might as well call them dupes, there are a couple of minor difference in pigmentation but once blended out I think they look the same and that’s really all that matters in terms of blush. So personally, I don’t really see the need in owning both, I own both but I think you could easily pick up one and be completely fine without the other.

Do you guys think these are dupes?

Battle: Kat Von D Tattoo Liner vs Physicians Formula Eye Booster

wp-1483024732166.jpg

I kind of love doing these kinds of posts now, I’ve only done a few like this now but I want to keep doing them, I kind of love testing out dupes but at the same time I don’t really like the idea of going out of my way to buy two products to see if they are the same, it’s kind of weird I know. I have a couple lined up for the next couple of months though, so maybe by the time both of those are up there will be some more that I have planned out. So for today I will be battling the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper and the Physicians Formula Eye Booster Eyeliner in Ultra Black. So let’s get into battling these two products and seeing if they are dupes or which one comes out on top.
