Hello there, I know it may seem like I dropped off the face of the planet but I have not. I am back and I am very excited about it. I didn’t intend to take a break but I guess I needed it, the thought of blogging was really terrifying for a minute and I had the flu so I just wasn’t feeling it. I am back though and I am ready to take on Blogmas, so get ready to see a lot of me. Today we will go back to regular scheduling, I was tagged by The Newbury Girl to do this one, so here I am ready to get into answering some questions.
1 | People tend to think beauty influencers are experts (or should be) at doing makeup. Of course, that’s not always true. What is one thing you struggle with doing?
I am a complete flop with eyeliner most of the time. I can do one eye perfectly and it looks great, then I go to do the other one and it usually ends up in a bit of a trainwreck. So, I have been trying to keep it simple because of that but sometimes I gotta go for that wing.
2 | On that note, are there any makeup techniques you’d like to improve or learn how to do?
I would love to be able to do eyeliner perfectly or to be able to properly apply lashes, I don’t think I want to wear them all the time but it would be nice to have it as an option and it look good.
3 | Are there any makeup looks, styles, trends, or techniques you absolutely refuse to do or follow on yourself? (Ex. winged liner, false lashes, etc.)
Instagram brows, I just don’t like the way that they look, I think they are too much for real life and that’s where I wear makeup the most.
4 | Are they any makeup trends or styles that you used to dislike, but now love? Or vice versa any that you used to love that now you don’t care for anymore?
I used the think highlighter was stupid and now I can’t live without it, it’s seriously my favorite step I think. As for the other way around, I used to wear tons of bright lipsticks but have since grown out of that habit.
5 | Are they any beauty/makeup trends that most people hate that you (maybe secretly) like?
I can’t really think of any.
6 | Are there any makeup “rules” or stereotypes that bother you?
I don’t think that makeup should really have ‘rules’ because it’s all about self-expression and having fun, or at least I think it should be.
7 | What “old news” makeup products do you still love and use on the regular?
The first thing that comes to mind for me is Benefit Porefessional, it is my favorite primer that I have ever used and I always go back to it.
8 | It’s possible that there may be a specific influencer that inspired you to start your blog, but let’s talk about what, if anything, influencers inspired you NOT to do!?
I’m trying to think of something and nothing is really coming to mind, I’m sure I’ll think of about six different things sometime later but as of right now I can’t think of anything they have inspired me not to do.
9 | What beauty content do you love creating the most?
I love creating content around Etsy, as weird as that might be. I just love combing through the website and sharing the random bits and bobs that I find, I also love writing reviews about things that I purchase from there.
10 | Is there any content that you create based on audience request or interest, that you actually don’t really like or prefer to create?
There isn’t, I try not to do things that I don’t like to write because I feel like the posts suffer when my heart isn’t in them. So no, I don’t really do anything based on a request that I have no interest in.
11 | How often do you post?
I currently post five times a week, but I will be participating in Blogmas and be posting every day during December, then I think I might scale back to four days a week because five might be too much for me.
12 | Do you have a job outside of blogging?
Yes, I do. I don’t make any money here so I for sure couldn’t survive on blogging alone. I currently work in the office of and HVAC and plumbing business.
13 | What beauty content do you enjoy consuming (watching or reading) the most?
I really love reading tags, I’m just a really nosy person and love seeing how different people answer and what is going on in their lives, which is what tags are great at I think.
14 | Any non-makeup blogs you love?
I follow a handful of non-beauty related blogs.
15 | Are there any makeup misconceptions because of Youtube, Blogging or Instagram, that you wish people knew the truth about or that you hope to change with your blog?
There are so many things. Blogging is hard work and does take a lot of time to do, especially when you throw social media into the mix, which takes up a lot of my time. Sure, it’s not the most difficult job in the world but a lot goes into posting on a schedule and consistently coming up with content.
16 | Have you ever felt unqualified or like bad beauty blogger because you didn’t do things just like every other “beauty guru”?
I have for sure, I love to blog and to be here, but sometimes I for sure have felt like I am underqualified to talk about beauty. I don’t know what makes someone more qualified but I know that I feel like I am just some little kid playing in their mom’s makeup from time to time if that makes sense.
I try not to compare myself so other ‘beauty gurus’ just because I feel like it always brings me down, though sometimes its hard to shake that completely.
17 | If you could collaborate with a brand, which would it be and what would you create?
I think I would want to create a palette, but I would want something that covers more area than just a typical eyeshadow palette. If I had to choose a brand I think it would be NYX, just because the prices are good and the range of products to choose from is a really great one.
18 | Would you rather collaborate with a brand or create your own makeup/beauty line?
I don’t really think I would like to do either, while I think it would be interesting to be able to come up with a brand from start to finish, I just don’t think it’s for me.
