I can’t believe that it has been four years, I have never stuck with one blog for this long but I am excited that I have, I’ve also enjoyed all of my time here. I am not a huge blogger by any means, but I like to think that I put a lot into my posts and that I have picked up a few things over the years, so I thought that today would be a good day to take a minute and reflect and talk about some of my favorite tips. So, let’s take a walk down memory lane.
Four years ago I was a bored twenty-two-year-old, I had other blogs before but I wanted something that felt more proper and that I could stick with, so that was how I ended up here on WordPress. I started out mostly reviewing Lush products, this is a time in my life that I was obsessed with Lush and that’s all I talked about, however, I have moved on, though I still love Lush. At this point in time, I like to think that my blog is a place that I can talk about anything on, at least that’s what I try to do, it’s mostly beauty related but I am trying to fold my other interests into this space on the internet. I’ve said that a bunch before and I have had a lot of shifts over the years, so who knows what will actually happen or what will stick. We’ll have to wait and see.
I am not a big blogger but I do enjoy blogging and I feel like I have learned a few things along the way. Social Media is so important, I’m terrible at it but being consistent is always great and being on things like Pinterest are huge helps. Seriously, Pinterest brings me more readers and followers than I ever expected, mostly because of group boards, you should always join at least a couple of group boards for this reason.
Planning out content is super useful as well, it’s great knowing a month in advance what I will be writing so I can prep properly, plus as long as I stay on top of things it’s way less stressful knowing that you already have a week or twos worth of posts written, so if anything comes up or you get writers block you are still on schedule.
I also keep a google spreadsheet with all of my links that I need and blog post ideas on it, that way if I’m looking for a post to fill sometime it’s very easy to just pop something in. I keep all my ideas categorized under various things like seasonal, beauty, lifestyle, tags and so on. It just makes everything super easy.
Don’t worry about numbers, especially if this is just a hobby, just have fun blogging and enjoy what you’re doing. I know it’s sometimes hard not to obsess but it’s much more fun to not be worried about them.
I’ve been here for four years and I still love chatting on the internet, I’m not sure what it is but it’s so fun, so here’s to many more!
How long have you been blogging?
