Dupe: Lime Crime vs Colourpop

Time to talk dupes, I have a couple of liquid lipsticks that are supposed to be dupes but I am putting to the test today. These two are one that I have seen for a while but haven’t put to the test myself yet, but I won’t be able to say that for much longer. So, let’s not waste any more time and instead just get into talking about these two liquid lipsticks.

This month is all about Lime Crime Cashmere, which will run you $20.00 and comes with 0.088oz of product which comes out to around $227.28 per ounce. I’m putting it up against a Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Trap, this one will run you a chunk less at $7.00 and comes with 0.11oz of product, which means it’s about $63.64 per ounce of product. So there is a big chunk of difference in terms of price of these two, so let’s see if Lime Crime is worth the extra chunk or not.

Let’s start this off by going over the packaging, it’s pretty much never a dupe but I want to get all of the information on these two out there and give my opinions on them. These both feel kind of cheap, there’s no real way around that one, not like they are going to fall apart but not super well made either.

I personally like the look of the Lime Crime better, I just think it looks nicer and it’s something different, whereas Colourpop is really simple and the holographic lettering comes off super easily, which is irritating.

The last thing that I want to mention about the packaging is the applicator, these are bot your simple doe-foot applicator however I think that the Colourpop one is a little more fluffy. It doesn’t make a difference really but I wanted to put that out there.

These two swatched look a lot alike, the top is Cashmere and the bottom is Trap, I think Trap looks a little bit rosier but let’s check them out on the lips and see how they look there.

I think once they are on the lips you can barely notice the difference between the two. I do think the top lip, Cashmere, is a little bit darker and the bottom lip, Trap, is still a little bit rosier. But other than that, I don’t really see the need to own both of these in terms of color.

Now as for the actually formula I do prefer the Lime Crime a bit more, I just think it’s thinner, dries down better and doesn’t dry out my lips nearly as much. I like the Colourpop one too but I do think it takes longer to dry down and leaves my lips feeling more chapped afterward.

Do I think these are dupes? I do, while the formula is the slightest bit different and the colors are the tiniest little bit different, I think these two are close enough to basically be dupes. I personally prefer the Lime Crime a smidge more but I like both a lot and I don’t think either one would be a bad choice.

What are some of your favorite dupes?
