If you didn’t already know I have decided to go through my hoard of eyeshadow palettes by attempting the 100 days of eyeshadow challenge, which so far so good. I thought this would be a great way to go through things and get to try out things. I feel like I have been pretty cutthroat so far and have passed on a bunch of palettes, so let’s jump in and see how it went.
Day 1 – Makeup Revolution Reloaded Velvet Rose Palette – This is supposed to be a dupe for the ABH Soft Glam Palette I think and I went into it sure I was going to pass this one along because I have the soft glam and another dupe, but I was really impressed by how this went on so I have decided to let this one go on for another round. Verdict: Keep
Day 2 – Lime Crime Venus 1 Palette – I always wanted this and have finally gotten my hands on this, however, I just don’t love this, I have tried this before and I just can’t really get but one look out of it and it’s never that good. Verdict: Pass
Day 3 – Anastasia Sub Culture Palette – I love this look that I have created with this palette, my problem with it is that as much as I love it, anytime I sit down with this palette I can’t come up with anything besides this look pretty much, so while it’s pretty I am not sure that I need to hold on to this. Verdict: Pass
Day 4 – A.S. Beauty 24 Karat Gold Palette – I don’t have many good things to say about this, all of the shades are shimmery and that isn’t something I need, along with the fact that I just don’t think these were very pigmented, it’s just not something that I need. Verdict: Pass.
Day 5 – Colourpop It’s a Princess Thing Palette – I am a little bit on the fence about this one because it is kind of boring but I can’t get rid of all of the boring palettes I have or I won’t have anything basic when I need it, so this one gets to live another round. Verdict: Keep.
Day 6 – Violet Voss Sugar Crystal Palette – This palette was really fun to play with and this one is really new to me, so this one is for sure going to stick around for at least a little bit. I like how these blended and I really like the color story. Verdict: Keep
Day 7 – Jeffree Star Androgyny Palette – This is a palette that I just had to have but every single time that I sit down to play with it I just don’t feel inspired and can’t come up with a look that I enjoy, even though I will admit that I like this look but usually I can’t come up with much that really sparks inspiration. Verdict: Pass
Day 8 – Dose of Colors Marvelous Mauves Palette – I don’t think there are a ton of different things that can be done with this palette, however, this one look is one that I enjoy so much that I do not mind, it’s just really simple and really pretty. This is a simple but great color story. Verdict: Keep
Day 9 – Bad Habit Atena Palette – I wasn’t sure about this at first because this brand has such hit and miss products that I wasn’t sure if I would love or hate this, however, I actually really love this look that I came up with. I think the touch of glitter is also a really nice addition. Verdict: Keep
Day 10 – Ella + Mila Bushing Goddess Palette – This is a really unexciting looking palette and it’s very simple, but a complete look can come from this one and sometimes that it was I am looking for and is a useful thing when it comes to traveling. I am not the biggest fan of this yet but I did enjoy the look I came up with. Verdict: Keep
Day 11- Huda Beauty Neon Green Obsessions – I adore the look that I came up with using this palette. I will admit that seeing this in person for the first time as a little bit unexciting and I wasn’t sure what to do with the shades, however, once I started playing with them I came up with a really fun look that I love. Verdict: Keep
Day 12 – Colourpop It’s My Pleasure Palette – This is the all purple palette and I think this is actually really versatile for being a palette that only features one color. This has various texture, finished and shades that make it really fun to play with. Verdict: Keep
Day 13 – Wet ‘N Wild My Glamourous Squad Palette – This is one of their eight pan palettes and is really cute, however, I am a little bit on the fence about this one, while I like the look that I have created here I am not completely sold that I need this one in my stash, so, for now, it gets a pass through but this one might end up in the declutter pile before long. Verdict: Keep
Day 14 – Colourpop Good Sport Palette -This is such a stunning palette and I think it is one of the more interesting color schemes that I have in a palette and that is so fun. I always have a lot of fun when I sit down with this one and am really happy with the look that I have come up with. Verdict: Keep
Day 15 – Too Faced Sparkling Pineapple Palette – I haven’t played with this a ton yet but I did enjoy playing with this for the first or second time, this doesn’t have the biggest selection but I think you can come up with a few different looks with this one. Verdict: Keep
Day 16 – Lorac Pro I ❤ Brunch Palette – Every time I get into this palette this is the look that I come up with and these two are the only ones that I really use, so I have decided to pry these two shades out and keep them, then pass the rest along. Verdict: Pass
Day 17 – Huda Beauty Neon Orange Obsessions Palette – This one was not as easy to play with as I thought it would be. I thought that this palette didn’t have enough orange in but I like the look that I came up with and am not ready to let this one go. Verdict: Keep
Day 18 – Urban Decay Heavy Metal Palette – I think that these metallics are seriously gorgeous, they are pigmented and the blend beautifully, however, I hate that there are no mattes or anything, it makes it really hard to work in the palette alone. I am not super in love with this look because of how shimmery it is, it is a bit much to me but I love the shimmers in this one so much that I can’t pass this one along. Verdict: Keep
Day 19 – Lime Crime Venus XS Gold Palette – I didn’t like the way that this one blended, it just didn’t do well at all. I couldn’t get a good look with this one and it just had to go. Verdict: Pass
Day 20 – Lime Crime Venus XS Rose Gold Palette – This one worked much better than the last one, it blended really well and I am not sure that I would be able to come up with a lot of different looks with this one, but I really like how this turned out. Verdict: Keep
Day 21 – Beauty Bakerie Game of Cones Palette – I think that this turned out a lot better in this photo than it did when I was looking at it in person. I actually really like how this looks, however it took a lot of work to get it to look like that and in person I think that this looked kind of terrible. Verdict: Pass
Day 22 – Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette – This is a classic, I can create all sorts of fun looks with this and I love this one. Verdict: Keep
Day 23 – Juvia’s Place The Douce Palette – This was my first time using this palette and I was a little bit confused by these colors together, but I did come up with this look and actually like it a lot more than I thought that I would. Verdict: Keep
Day 24 – Lorac Pro 4 Palette – I actually really love Lorac eyeshadows and I was reminded of this when I pulled this one out, this is a fantastic neutral palette that I for sure want to keep in the collection. Verdict: Keep
Day 25 – Colourpop Salvaje Palette – This is such a pretty range of color and I just really enjoyed wearing this, this look also felt really basic but a look that I enjoyed. Verdict: Keep
Day 26 – NYX Off Tropic Shifting Sands Palette – I really love the look that I came up with this one, it doesn’t look as proper and good as I would like but I am happy with this one. I think this one makes it at least until the next round. Verdict: Keep
Day 27 – Bad Habit Arabasque Palette – I believe this is the other Anastasia Soft Glam dupe that I have and I hated using this, this just didn’t blend easily and it took a lot of effort to get this and even still I don’t think it looks that good. Verdict: Pass
Day 28 – Face Candy Sahara Palette – I actually loved this a lot more than I thought, these warm shades were really easy to work with and I really love the look of this. Verdict: Keep
Day 29 – Dose of Colors Blushing Berries Palette – I thought that I was going to love this, especially after using the mauves one and loving that one, but these shades just didn’t work the way that I wanted to and I could not get a defined look, I hated this. Verdict: Pass
Day 30 – Huda Beauty Neon Pink Obsessions Palette – This is the last of the neon palettes and is probably my second favorite of the three, I think this one works really well together however I don’t think that this feels that original or interesting, but came together really well. Verdict: Keep
Day 31 – Bad Habit After Shock Palette – And our final look, I actually really love how this turned out and am happy with this palette, however, I have the Huda version of this and I do not feel like I need both, so I am probably going to keep that one. Verdict: Pass.
So, out of 31 different palettes I have decided to let 10 of them go, which I think is pretty good and I am pretty happy with, especially for the very first round of this little project. I am not sure how to sort through these after I have gone through my first use but I am sure I will come up with something, or maybe someone will have some sort of idea as to how I might want to approach decluttering eyeshadow palettes further. If you have any ideas feel free to drop them down below.
