Ma-Ka-Rohn Taste Test & Review

saturday well-spent

Mixing it up yet again, I try to do that every now and then, this was originally planned content for the food blog but that did not go off so well, so I have a bunch of content from that short little excursion that I will probably eventually blog about here. So, today I will be talking about some macarons that I picked up online from Ma-Ka-Rohn.

Because I have no self control and also really wanted to get a good feel for all the flavors that they had, I ended up getting fifteen different flavors that my husband and I split and tasted together. So, let’s talk a little about each flavor.

Birthday Cake: Let’s start out fun with this one, this one had sprinkles but otherwise was pretty boring to look at. This tasted exactly like birthday cake and even had a little piece of cake in the middle, which was great. This one was very simple but very tasty and I would for sure eat this one again.

Butterbeer: This one is red and gold, this is the Gryffindor themed one and it’s spot on in that way. This one was really good, this one tasted mostly like butterscotch, which is to be expected. This one was really moist too, it was another great one that I would eat again for sure.

Chocolate Frog: This is our Hufflepuff one, which means this one is black and gold. This one is really simple but was probably my favorite of all the ones we tasted, this one tasted a lot like brownie batter and I love anything that tastes like batter or dough.

Fizzing Whizbees: Time for Ravenclaw, which was blue and gray, as one might think it would be. This one was weird, I believe it’s supposed to be fruit punch flavor and honestly, it didn’t taste like anything really. It was fine but nothing exciting.

Polyjuice Potion: And lastly we have our Slytherin, which is Green and black. This one was not enjoyable, this is the only one that we did not completely eat. This one was apple flavored and very tart, like too tart, it just wasn’t good.

Cookies & Cream: I think this one looks pretty bland but that’s okay because it was pretty good, as most Cookies & Cream flavored things are. This one was really spot on to what it was supposed to taste like and I would eat it again.

Cotton Candy: This one was so fun to look at and honestly I was super excited to taste this one, but it didn’t live up to everything that I thought it would be. I was hoping for a delightful cotton candy and it really tasted like coconut, which I do not mind coconut it just wasn’t what I was expecting to get.

Dark Choco Caramel Sea Salt: This one is just very dark and chocolatey looking. This one was very good, but then again I do love all things that are salted caramel. This was chocolatey, salty and a little bit caramelly, which is great.

Fruity Pebbles: This is another one with a really fun appearance, being a mix of bright pink a green. This was a little bit of a letdown like it tasted just like fruity pebbles and even had little bits of fruity pebbles in it, but it was a very light taste.

Galaxy: Not gonna lie, I totally go this one because of the appearance, just look at it, it’s too pretty to not at least taste. I believe this one was milky way flavored and honestly, I didn’t pick up a lot of that but this was for sure really chocolatey and had maybe a dash of coffee flavor in it.

Pineapple Coconut: This one was yellow and had fun sprinkles on the outside of it, while being simple it was still fun. I was not the biggest fan of pineapple, but this one was fine if you like pineapple, because that is all that it tasted of.

Mango Chili Lime: This one is another one that is fairly bland from the outside but this one packs a lot of punch in terms of flavor. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about it but I actually really loved this one, it tasted of tart mango with a slow burn at the end. A really interesting combination while also not being too much.

Creme Brulee: This one is another bland looking one and honestly the taste of this one wasn’t particularly great either, it wasn’t bad but it just tasted a little bit off, it was strange.

Toasted Marshmallow: This one is fun in a simple way because the outer shell is bright blue, though it does stain your tongue really badly. This one was good but nothing to jump up and down about unless you really like marshmallows.

Vanilla Butter Cream: Now, time for the last one and the most basic of all, the vanilla. This one isn’t super exciting but this one was very good and very well made, it tastes very much like vanilla without being too overwhelmingly sweet.

Now that I have talked a little bit about each one of the flavors that I have picked up, I thought it would be a great time to talk about the consistency and overall quality of these macarons. I honestly wasn’t expecting a whole lot, like I expected them to be good but since I ordered them online I wasn’t expecting them to be this good. These were seriously amazing. They were so fresh, the shipping was really quick and these were also super soft and moist. they were also really interesting to look at, well some of them were but overall I am very much happy with the results of this purchase.

Have you ever tried macarons before?
